In the latest attempt to check up on everyone, as of today all Town employees were directed to forward their computer passwords in sealed envelopes with their names on them and were told that they would be given to the Supervisor.

The System Administrator(s) can change a user's password. Further, they likely have access to e-Mail correspondences and IM messages as the logs should be backed up. I would NEVER give my password to anyone, including my employer. They don't need it to audit what I'm doing. This sounds very suspicious to me.
Who directed this? And, how do the employers know that the sealed envelopes will remain sealed and delivered to the Supervisor. What will the Supervisor do with them if/when received? Something is amiss.
Do they ask the same for the cops with their 'on board' computers? How about the members of the town board and attorneys and the super's secretary?
And how do they know that they are just singling out one or two employees under the guise of ALL?
Dissension among the ranks....perhaps! Paranoia.....perhaps?

Cange on the 1st day of spring, summer, fall, and winter (4x a year or more) It should be long - more than 8 characters Use upper and lower case Use numbers Use symbols Most systems require you to cycle at least 5 passwords -non current street address'work well
Now you hae to wonder just who has access to Your social securty number Your drivers lic I'd Your name and address Any health issues Bank acct:s and routing numbers
A move like this could cost the town plenty
The employee handbook needs to be changed to reflect this issue
I sure hope we don't attract the dept of state or a lawsuit from the CSEA on behalf of our town employees.
I would not hold such a suit against the employees should they file one.
So to our town employees gine Del Gallo and Godlewski the thre fingered salute tomorrow
Once loggind in (1)control (2)alternate (3)delete Look for the box on the lower right corner od the pop up window "Change Password"
Talking to each other is better than talking about each other
Any IT Tech will tell you that demanding your password is never done!!!! I wouldn't do it!

database clicks are logged by the server clock not the workstation unless the workstation is the server so access and add, deletes, and changes to records can be tracked as the access log would show the time change

I believe the System Admin is a former councilmember MDV who resigned in disgrace for a no bid computer contract broohaha. Maybe there has been a breach of security. I hear the Feds have been alerted that there may be fed charges. Ohhh my.
Breach or not........there is no reason to ask for passwords! The breach, if there really was one, could have most certainly come from 'inside' town hall as well!
Turning over passwords is NOT the way you handle an alleged 'security breach'!

The Feds took hard drives during Siggy's admin. When security is breached the innocent have no reason not to comply. The biggest complainers know something isn't kosher eh Bumble.
You mean you would lie to the town supervisor about something. Especially something that is attached to town property. Are you afraid of what you have been doing during work hours?
