You stated that the previous admin "signed" the assessor to a five year contract. I don't recall the public hearing, town board meeting or the vote for a contract with the assessor. Don't make us taxpayers file FOILS for non existent legal bindings.  You want to play with the big dogs do your homework.  Shape up!

I think the point is that rotterdam NEVER had a good honest assessor! JM had his pets and favorites too!! There were many people that got the 'nod' as long as they promised to vote for a dem supervisor at the time! That is what's wrong with the people in rotterdam. They are sadly defined by their political preference! And that is why nothing will ever change in rotterdam!!

These political shenanigans go on in all communities. But any and all decisions, based on politics USUALLY still end up benefitting the electorate/taxpayer. Not so in rotterdam or the city!! Politics is obviously destroying both municipalities! IMHO of course!

If we've never had a good honest assessor then we haven't good honest neighbors.....

No that is not my point at all. Contractual agreements with municipal employees are a dangerous precedent.   DVR stated that the assessor has a signed contract. That's all.

Who else has a "written" contract?  Somebody?

There is a resolution providing for a five year contract for Mr. Surprise. I have seen that particular resolution.

Is it a "contract" by resolution or an "appointment" by resolution?  Very interested because there are a number of term appointments that will expire in the coming months. I would be concerned, as a taxpayer, that the previous administration usurped the Town Charter by "signing" appointed officials to contracts.  Why did Parisi and Company get the boot if they had a contract?  Who else has contracts?

Who is JM?  John MacIsaac, John Macejka Jr, John Macejka Sr, John Mertz, John MacDonald?  Not sure where you are going.

"Contracts," in this instance, would be a written, valid, legal agreement, enforceable by law. Simple question; DVR stated the assessor has a signed 5 year contract, negotiated by the previous administration, essentially binding future administrations with a town employee.

The taxpayers should be made aware of these events as to why the current administration has been crippled by the backroom deals afforded the hired guns.  Make my day Bumblethru, please, make my day.

I can't say for sure, however I do know when he was "released", he sat dormant (no job) for awhile until Guilderland picked him up.  If he had a contract, I would have thought there would have been a buyout clause which would have generated another Resolution to authorize that.  I do not recall any Resolutions for that purpose.

I am pretty sure that Parisi and Company resigned as "town law firm" because I seem to remember a
resolution accepting their resignation at the January 1 Board meeting.

Putting aside party labels and who appointed who --- one administration should not appoint persons
to terms that overlap the term of the next administration  (except for Zoning Board, Planning Board,
and Parks Commission).

Parisi and company resigned?  Really?  Hmmm I guess you would know.  Then let me ask you DVR, have you seen or are you privey to other "contracts" for appointed term employees?   You stated that high placed individuals in the administration told you that the assessor had a signed five year contract negotiated by the previous administration.  You do know that what you post on the forum may be construed as reflective of current town administration policy and procedures.  Be careful DVR.  You might be speaking out of school.

Hey DVR no threat intended. Loose lips sink ships. Take a chill. The blog has consumed you. Paranoia is creeping into your mind.

Hey, I don't know about any rotterdam contract! If an administration tells it's residents there is one.....like everything else.....they tend to believe them no matter what party is in control.

It's funny how these issues appear to take on more importance AFTER THE FACT!! Why wasn't this an issue before last november's rotterdam election? Why a year later?

For the rotterdam people who care.....FOIL for it or ask rotterdam's supervisor FDG? He's in charge, right?

That's what I am saying Bumblethru.  DVR makes some pretty bold statements that may be unfounded or his/her opinion.  When talking about legal agreements, he/she should not be passing along information in this forum.  Might get himself/herself in a legal pickle.  Can't say we haven't tried to tell her/him.  I think others have tried also.  Time to move on to the next thread. Ciao!
