For every Tragedy, there is an opportunity. Those buildings were hodgepodge constructed. The rebuild may provide a better, more efficient use of the space

ROTTERDAM -- Firefighters brought the blaze that engulfed a plaza on Guilderland Avenue under control early Tuesday afternoon.
The 4 Corners Pizza shop, Anderson Blacktop, First Class Products and a motorcycle club all burned in the fire that began about 9:50 a.m., according John Nuzback, Schenectady County Fire/EMS coordinator. A resident of an apartment in the building escaped unharmed. There were no reported injuries.
"Early indications are that it started in the back office of the pizzeria," Nuzback said.
Dorothy Sheldon, 40, who lives a few houses away, said she watched the smoke and flames from her Guilderland Avenue porch. "It was high and burning the trees behind it," she said. "The black smoke was tremendous. For a time, there was nothing but smoke here."
Nine fire companies and state fire investigators were at the scene. They continue to work on hot spots in the fire.
Police are only allowing one-way alternating traffic on Curry Road from Guilderland Avenue to Sunrise Boulevard. State transportation officials estimated the delay will be through mid-afternoon.
The suspected cause of the fire was a burning candle in the back office of 4 corners pizza. Sources told her the fire started in the back of the 4 Corners Pizza & Italian Eatery by a candle that was left burning. The question is why would anyone leave a candle burning unattended and now there are 4 businesses and one apartment gone, what a shame.
Has Tom the ambulance chaser Buchanan made an appearance on the scene? He'll probably be suing Mike P for a faulty sprinkler. I would like a meat calzone heavy on the ash and well done. Hehehe

Wow DM you are quite the funny one. Rumor has it you like meat in the ash. IMHO!
You all need to grow up and stop with the jokes. As far as speculation as to what happened how about waiting for the fire inspectors to do their investigation, I mean I know most of you guys would rather speculate than base your views on facts but let's wait for facts on this one.
just what/where is or is believed to be sunrise plaza???
The dilapidated building on the corner that is fenced off.
To Mike P...hope everything works out well and am glad no one was hurt. I know you well and you'll be back stronger and better. BEST WISHES FROM SYRACUSE!

Chris White ROTTERDAM -- The fire was still burning at noon on Tuesday -- more than two hours after flames broke out in a Rotterdam plaza.
Marci Natale reports from the scene that efforts were hampered by the building structure and the heat.
Sources told her the fire started in the back of the 4 Corners Pizza & Italian Eatery by a candle that was left burning.
A memorabilia shop and a biker's club office in the plaza were also damaged by the fire.
Flames threatened a home behind the plaza, located on Guilderland Avenue. Firefighters were working hard Tuesday afternoon to make sure the fire didn't spread.
I speculate that the old Sorrento's might be the perfect place for a relocation for 4 Corners. How about Shoparama Pizza. S-H-I-T happens. Cry in your beer today and drink Krystall tomorrow. I betcha the Hot antipasta packs a wallop. TeeHee
