Hanson is a poor excuse for a lawyer. She screwed up a case for my wife and I - something I had to take to the judge, myself, and won - where she couldn't even bother to attend - then had the cajones to charge us for - which the judge threw out.

I'm surprised she's still practicing.

I am shocked! Someone (I don't care how old) is not only on private property, but is harassing the property owners AND the owners are charged!!! The perpetrator is has now become the VICTIM of his own crime and the victim has become the criminal!!

Doesn't anyone else think this as a$$ backwards?

Adults should know the difference between  ANNOYING BEHAVIOR and HARASSMENT .  Get a grip- no room for adults acting like children.

DA: Homeowner won't be charged
Delmar man who tackled youth ringing doorbell is relieved; lawyer dismayed

By PAUL GRONDAHL, Staff writer
First published in print: Saturday, July 24, 2010
BETHLEHEM-- Criminal charges are being dropped against the homeowner who chased and tackled a 14-year-old boy who rang his doorbell and ran away last Saturday night.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares has decided not to prosecute the case against 37-year-old Daniel P. Van Plew, who was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.

Soares spoke with the lawyers for the parents of the boy and Van Plew Friday and will send a letter Monday informing the judge of his decision, according to spokeswoman Heather Orth.

"Until we have communicated that decision to the court, it would be inappropriate to make any other comment," Orth said.

Van Plew expressed relief over the conclusion of what he considered a nightmare and hope that the story that launched an Internet sensation and went national would be allowed to die a quiet death.

"I feel grateful that the D.A. made that decision and relieved that we're going to get this behind us and get back to our lives as a family," Van Plew said.

...

Madeo's attorney, Kristie Hanson, reacted with indignation.

"This all seems political to me and it doesn't pass the smell test," Hanson said, adding she believe Soares caved to overwhelming public opinion in favor of Van Plew and against the teen.

..

Hanson had not been able to reach the Madeos by Friday evening. She believed they had left for a vacation.

That poor kid must have been SOO traumatized and the parents obviously punished him "severely" - so "severely" they all took a family vacation. Maybe they went to WallyWorld?

Even the liberal DA Soarez knows that the home owner did nothing wrong. Only extreme Rotterdam liberal democraps think it is alright to let the home owners be terrorized and hand flower bouquets to the punks for the tribulations.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Sounds to me like the homeowner has some anger management issues.  Call the cops and let them do their job.  Knocking a kid around for ringing a door bell sounds a bit out of the realm of "threatening" to the guys family.  This spastic homeowner would have gone off he was single.  He has no right to lay his hands on that kid.  Good for the parents of the kid for pressing charges.  This dude dragged the kid back into his house???  And the kid was threatening??  I don't think so...........

You are absolutely right. The homeowner should have never taken the law into his own hands. It is amazing to me that some people post here with half the facts and no knowledge of the law. They would like you to believe that they never played ding dong ditch or worse. The child was wrong but the fact of the matter is he wasn't even the one that rang the doorbell. He was tackled in the street, had his face busted up, broke his braces, may lose his teeth and was dragged back into the house and was told he would be killed if he moved. This is so far over the top. You can imagine the reaction of the police when they get there and find a child bloodied for supposedly ringing a door bell. It is no wonder MR. Van Plew had the tapes erased because it does not show the child ringing the bell but it does show him dragging him back into his house. Mr. Soares should be ashamed of himself for not upholding the law he was sworn to uphold. It is obviosly he has fallen to being a typical politician afraid to do what's right but follow public opinion.

Apparently the law disagrees with your side of the story.

Take it to civil court if you think you've got a case Mr Madeo

If you are going to post so called inside info you should try to get it right. I have known Ms. Hanson since she started her practice. She has only had one secretary in all the years she has been in practice and yes it has been her mother. You want to act like she has a problem keeping secretaries and that is far from the truth.

First it's not my side of the story. It is what happened and the law is the law and because you do not agree with it does not mean you don't need to uphold it. You and the general public may think the child got what he deserved but the homeowner clearly broke the law. Because the public opinion is the homeowner should not be charged Mr. Soars caves. The fact of the matter is a child rang a doorbell and ran off. Almost every person I have spoken to has done it or worse. We all know that children should not pull pranks on homeowners but it has been going on long before us. We have a man down the street that has told neighbors he is going to grab any kids that ding dong ditch his home and handcuff them to a tree. He has also told people he has guns in his house and could possibly have a flash back. What worries me is Mr. Soares has now told this man he can do whatever he wants. I would love to see Mr. Madeo take it to civil court because I know he would win.

What is strange is that my first reply was to 55tbird and now you answer under another name. Her mother does look younger than she is, I will give you that but even if she had more than one secretay over the years, why would that be a problem? Seems to me you are just making an issue where there is none.

I was once an Indian when I was a child and now I am a cowboy. When another cowboy teaches an Indian how to man-up, I appreciate it. When I was an Indian, I knew the cowboys carried six-shooters and I might get my a** busted. Today we have liberals and parents to be a safety net against the cowboys.

Maybe one day that kid with the scratched elbow will be a cowboy too. In the meantime, the as$hole lawyers, and the as$hole parent want to make sure he stays in the Indian category and doesn't get to taste "reality" for once. Reality is what makes us real. Van Plew gave the "child" a worldly reality. Unfortunately liberalism likes to meander in fantasy, and so does the as$hole law profession and quite a few as$hole parents.

...that is why liberals are as$holes and should eventually all be imprisoned for their traitorous acts. Starting with the subhuman Boxarox.
