105th Assembly District – Assembly candidate Gerard F. Parisi (R) has signed three pledges outlined by the non-partisan, independent coalition formed by former Mayor Edward I. Koch that advocates for meaningful government reform across New York State. “I am proud to support their mission to put an end to corruption in Albany and reinstate the public’s faith in government by offering real, honest and sensible solutions that legislators and candidates can implement, adhere to and be held accountable for executing once elected to office”, said Parisi in a statement. The three pledges involve Responsible Budgeting, Non-Partisan, Independent Redistricting and Ethics Reform. Among the specific finance reforms the pledge calls for the: • Creation of an Independent Budget Office to report on the state’s financial health and comment on budgetary matters • Adoption of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to prepare and manage the state budget • Use of a rolling five year financial plan to better monitor the consequences of current decisions on long-term finances Parisi, who is a CPA and former auditor, has campaigned upon his financial background and ability to attack the state’s budget woes. “Our government needs to treat its finances like everyone else and implement responsible accounting policies and procedures that are standard in the practice of accounting.”, said Parisi.
AMEDORE SIGNS TAXPAYER PLEDGE TO NOT RAISE TAXES January 14, 2010
In photo (from left to right): Director of Governmental Affairs for the Business Council of NYS, Walter Pacholoczak, Assemblymen Tony Jordan (R,C-Jackson), Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson) and George Amedore (R,C-Rotterdam) and State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business, Michael J. Elmendorf II. Assemblyman George Amedore (R,C-Rotterdam) joined with his Assembly colleagues and members of the business community today at a Press Conference to sign the “Tax-Free Budget Pledge.” The legislators and guests spoke of the importance of fiscal discipline and transparency for this year’s 2010-11 state budget process. Assemblymen Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady) and Pete Lopez (R,C,I-Schoharie) also attended the pledge signing, but are not seen in the picture above.
“Our state is at a critical crossroads. State government is broken and its taxpayers are strained from years of overspending and tax increases,” said Amedore. “I signed this pledge, sending a message to politicians to make the tough decisions needed to bring our fiscal house to order. We must fight against tax increases, fight for greater transparency in government and create savings for taxpayers. It is time that taxpayers found out who wants to make a difference for them in Albany and who does not.”
Im not certain GA has the skills to attack the budget...GP is a CPA and former auditor with Ernst & Young...sounds like the type of person who we need to dig into the fiscal problems we have.

One would have expected more from GP while negotiating the si group pilot with AS. And being a cpa AND the town attorney, one would also have expected more from GP when the reps gave rems a budget line of $10K/month while they knew it was a fiscal mess.
Good cpa skills????

Bumble, I'm not sure it takes a CPA to see the benefit to the town here. If SI didn't get the PILOT they would have left the state. What benefit would that have been to the town? I guess it does take a CPA to realize that if SI left the negative results would have been far worse than giving them the PILOT.

It is not clear what a company might do as far as leaving the State. As all of us know, our taxes are beyond reproach. If a company is willing to walk away from its infrastructure investment and the people that make their product, then they are likely to go anyways. For SI to leave, they would have to maintain ownership of the land like GE did. I'm sure the environmental testing of the ground there would result in some monumental cleanup activities which they would be on the hook for. My guess is that they will likely leave in the future anyways, regardless of PILOT status. This is just based on the historical fact that manufacturing is based on a profit margin which cannot be realized in New York State period!
Well Im sure BM is far more qualified to determine what was right and wrong! Looks like the SI PILOT had penalty provisions for this situation buit right in so I would say AS and GP got it right.
As far as REMS being a fiscal mess, what are you zorro, you just throw out false accusations with no detail? If they are in such a mess why havent they gone under. Oh I forgot, you and Bill Sherman wanted to land Mohawk Rotterdam for BIG!!!!! financial contributions to Tedisco at the time. I think the term is major kickback...

Someone before had asked how GA was different than Tedisco. Here is another reason Tedisco signed. Also yesterday Tedisco got all sorts of press for comments about the budget. Why hasn't George done anything to get that message across? Is he too busy? Lazy? Incompetent?
So MT u admit u were wrong about the SI Pilot I guess....just move on to the next claim...ok Did Parisi vote to pay REMS 10k a month??? Answer ..NO HE WASNT A BOARD MEMBER....oh but your right he was controlling everyone cause he was the big town chair...I forgot...he is soooo powerful and almighty he can do that!!! LOLOLOLOLOL
