Towne Construction and Paving Co. in Rotterdam, New York, is selling its pavers, trucks, rollers and other equipment as part of a “complete liquidiation” of the business, according to a construction industry auctioneer.
The July 10 auction will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the company’s offices at 828 Burdeck St., according to a listing on the website of Alex Lyon & Son, a Syracuse-based construction equipment auctioneer.
“Towne Construction & Paving, highly successful for three generations, has decided to pursuse other interests and will sell their top quality equipment, support and vehicles at auction,” the listing states. “This equipment will suit anybody!”
Company officials didn’t return several phone calls from The Business Review seeking comment.
Some people in the local construction industry have been told Towne Construction is closing its doors and has turned its contracts over to other companies.
The company is run by brothers Barton Andreoli Jr. and Nicholas Andreoli. Their father, Barton Andreoli Sr., who ran the company for 30 years, died in January 2005.
The construction industry continues to suffer from a downturn in business despite hundreds of millions of dollars set aside for projects under last year’s federal economic stimulus package.....................>>>>..................>>>>.................................http://albany.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2010/06/21/daily17.html
