"... the Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI) reported Friday that its Weekly Leading Index has slumped to the lowest level in 44 weeks, and has now gone to a negative reading."

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Looks like it's going to take 8 years to fix the Gulf of Mexico crisis at the rate Obama's going.

That's a stupid comment. You reps want less government, less oversight, but when disaster strikes you expect the government to deal with it.  The government has no ability to deal with it other then make BP do it and hold them accountable.

First, to set the record straight, I'm not a republican.

Now that's out of the way, we can begin to discuss the responsibility of the federal government - Republican or Democrat.  It is the responsibility of the federal government to protect and clean up the U.S. costal waters that have been polluted by this disaster that originated in international waters. Suspending the Jones Act and allowing the nearly 20 nations that offered the services of their oil skimmers to begin cleaning up the mess in the Gulf, just days after the spill, would be the duty of the executive branch.  The Dutch have technology that would clean this spill up 5 times faster than current US technology.  Even if BP wanted to purchase the services of the Dutch, the Dutch couldn't sail in our waters without the suspension of the Jones Act.(Bush suspended the Jones Act 14 days after Katrina)

The inaction or the Obama Administration and the immediate assessing of blame is not leadership.  To try to make this an issue of not enough regulation is just a distraction.  That would be like watching the World Trade Center burn without sending in firefighters, but instead filing lawsuits against the airline industry.  Then blaming lack of airline regulation the reason for the 9-11 disaster.

Stein, you my friend are an Obamabot.  You twist reality to protect the image of your dear leader.

The monies that the government 'took' from BP is nothing more than a money grab....aka EXTORTION!! Since when did the government have the right to demand money from a 'private company' for a mishap? No matter how huge it is. I'm sure that BP has insurance that would cover such a mishap....or they should have, since a 'spill' is always possible.

AGAIN....the government is painting BP as the evil rich capitalist. IT IS A PRIVATE COMPANY!! And it appears that obama is not wasting any time on this crises to forward his socialist agenda. Does anyone really think that obama cares deeply about the gulf coast, the residents or the businesses? His actions have not proven differently.

No matter how bad this crisis is folks, just remember that this is EXTORTION at it's best! Government crossing the line!

Would the reps have done it any differently? Perhaps not. But you can bet that every liberal media outlet would be allowed 24/7 access to this disaster, which would then be shown on every media outlet and pictures of dead ocean life would be plastered all over the liberal print media!! You wouldn't be able to go through a check-out at a store without seeing dead, oil covered birds on every cover!

We ain't seen nothin yet! November can't come quick enough! IMHO
