Doesn't anyone think that Tony J's was just a bit over board? The guy was allowed to go on and on and on promoting this central dispatch.without any word from the town board. Tony J., a county leg representative, got up there and spoke like he and the rest of the county had already took over rotterdam. And the county knows that they can take it over with this bunch of nitwits.
And the local dems can thank themselves for this chain of events that brought rotterdam to this point since they have always supported and campaigned in favor of every single issue the party proposed!
So now what????

Again peeps, I don't buy it. I don't think it was the hiring of surprise as much as it was the letting go of macjecka. THAT seems to really be the issue. Surprise may not be a gem but neither was macjecka. That just boils down to a 'party preference'! It's done all the time when there's a changing of the guard. Just look at this town hall and you can see it's done ALL the time....But to imply that this entire change of events hinges on rotterdam's assessors office is ridiculous.
The real crux of the issue is that rotterdam now has a town board that ran for their own personal motivations and a political party that cheered them on like they were the best thing since sliced bread, while also promising that they will be the saviors of people's tax issues!! It was clearly a misguided campaign from the top right down to the bottom.
As far as you being an outcast.....well that's what happens when anyone becomes a 'party person', which is exactly why I am a blank. No loyalties except to my ideology and a candidate I choose to support. Politics is clearly a cesspool!!
Have to disagree with you on that analysis Bumble. You have a personal vendetta against Macejka as evidenced by your many prior posts. We all have issues with a tax assessor Its the nature of the beast. What is your basis for the vendetta? To my knowldge, and God knows JP and I have had our differences with Assessor's but they have one of the worst jobs during this particular harsh economic downturn. When you let personal vendetta's like the GP/JM one the GA/GP/AS one and the Macejka/Mertz/Tomassone one determine politcal course...well you see the results. The circus comes to town!

A bit overboard? He was at least 15 minutes over the mercy rule! The plane crash scenario is like telling me Rotterdam would be hit by an asteroid. Is it possible? YEAH Is it likely (even remotely)? NO He should have asked to be put on the agenda for a presentation, not belabor privilege of the floor. He said they can't predict savings because they don't know if they have to buy land and build a building, or if they can lease. Later he goes into the cost savings and contradicts himself. Where'd he pull those numbers from? I'm still PO'd that the resolution didn't get tabled, I think Bob G. was on to something, and this will prove to be a City of Schenectady bailout at the townships expense. It was way premature in my book to enter into that agreement. I generally like to review the data and info myself, and not trust a politician to sugarcoat it. Why wasn't the consultant's study online at the county's website for taxpayers and municipalities to review? We already know the answer to that . . . . .
Quoted from Peeper: County influence. Our town is being run from the sixth floor at the county office bldg. Sad but true.
I agree that the county government under the Democrat control has been attempting to wrest control and power from the towns. This is evident by the Metroplex being infused into the Rotterdam IDA business. The central dispatch is but another example. Police department consolidation will soon become a reality in my assessment.
As a Conservative, I am generally for government that is smaller, less costly, and less intrusive. There is a tradeoff to be contemplated between the cost savings that (should be) are realized through consolidation of services and the ceding of power and control to higher levels of (inaccessible) government.
Andrew Cuomo is running for Governor on a platform that includes eliminating layers of "unnecessary" government. That may sound good to a conservative minded person until you consider which layer(s) of government is (are) being eliminated and which faceless and unaccountable bureaucrat(s) appointed to political patronage positions will be in charge of decisions that should be rendered by the residents.
Although there are ways to save money through cooperative agreements (e.g., procurement) and consolidation of certain functions (e.g., central dispatch, central booking), I prefer to retain a system of local government that is accessible and answerable to the residents.
If you want to stop the abstraction of power from local government to state and federal governments, you had better start electing conservatives who believe in local government control. The best decisions are those that are made by those who will be impacted and who are closest to the issue.

I DO NOT have a personal vendetta against macejka. Never did. He did raise my property taxes by almost double 3 months after we bought it. But that was years ago. Were we happy....no, of course not, but what are ya gonna do? We clearly didn't take out the pitchforks and go storming town hall! More than that, I don't think he was very supportive during the reval. However, I did think it was time for him to leave when he did, just like I think it's time for EE to go.
You must admit peeps, that if this present bunch welcomed you with open arms, you'd still be supporting them....correct?

One consideration that a voter should always make is the reason that a candidate campaigns for office. Some individuals run for office seeking wealth and/or power. Others are motivated by ideology or a sincere desire to serve his or her community.
It is difficult to gauge what is in a person's head or heart. However, if you can determine a candidate's motivation, you will gain insight to how he or she will govern if elected.
Quoted from Avon: A bit overboard? He was at least 15 minutes over the mercy rule!
Mr. Jasenski's position in County government does not give him special privilege at a town board meeting. As you suggest, he should have requested time on the agenda if he wanted to make a lengthy presentation. The Town Board members should have imposed the same time restrictions on Jasenski as they do on other members of the general public.
what time limits it was a free for all but all in attendance were generally respectful of all speakers at the podium

Frank Salamone spoke, rather eloquently I might add, in favor of giving ALL RESIDENTS (not just property owners) the right to vote on the Ambulance Tax District. FS made it clear why absentee ballots are necessary… allowing the homebound, military serving overseas, etc the right to vote on an issue that will impact ALL residents. FS has displayed professionalism in his comments during the TB meetings and has proven to be an excellent advocate for the residents of Rotterdam. He will be up to speed at election time and ready to serve when elected.
Speaking of TB candidates, where, oh where, is this Wayne Calder? I don’t think he will have the opportunity to depend on the “learning curve” and “transition” excuses that the current TB Dems have been using since January!

Several of our readings have mentioned the "Hapsburg lip" in reference to heredity. The above portrait is of Charles II, who was King of Spain from 1665 to 1700, and who displays this characteristic trait, a trait that was passed down through the Austro-Hungarian monarchy through successive inbreeding. The Hapsburg lip deformity affected poor Charles II so badly that he could not chew his food. Years of inbreeding had also taken its toll on his intelligence (he was retarded) and his powers of procreation (he was impotent).

Who elected this guy, young Godlewski? How many lawyers do they need up on the frickin' podium explaining things? Why has our town turned into the Greatest Show On Earth? This is depressing me. I think I need a Martini or something tonight after watching this joke. And no, stop telling me to run for supervisor when you see me in the supermarket, ain't gonna' happen. This is a clown act now, nobody knows what end is up anymore! Hapsburg lip...geesh.

So wait - I've got a question. He states in the first video that it's for homeowners or business owners on the rolls as of 5/1/2010. What about all the people that have bought property since that time? Before the date was changed, that's almost 2 months of new property owners not getting a say in the vote. By November, it'll be 6 months - likely a significant change in property ownership changes in 6 months, I'd think.
Also, you get one vote, no matter how many properties you own. BUT - according to the first video, if a husband and wife each are on the title, you get two votes?? Did I understand that correctly??
