Where is the ban on religious freedoms for Muslims in America? You can place reasonable time. place and manner restrictions. Another idiotic straw man. Nobody is saying they can't build a mosque -just not near an area that radical Muslims murdered thousands of people-including Muslims.
What Muslim freedoms are being restricted? It's unbelievable that you buy into this phony victimization crap. Talk to a Lebanese Christian about Muslim freedoms they will laugh at you. Maybe Muslims should implement the same freedoms they demand in this country. Then they would have a little credibility.
Where is the ban on religious freedoms for Muslims in America?
This entire thread is about restricting Muslim religious freedom in NYC. If any other religion wanted to build a house of worship in the exact same spot, there would be absolutely no dissent. This is anti-Muslim bigotry at it's best, disguised in the veil of "patriotism".
Then the same old blah blah blah... straw man. "Talk to a Lebanese Christian about Muslim freedoms they will laugh at you. Maybe Muslims should implement the same freedoms they demand in this country."
This isn't Lebanon, or Saudi Arabia, or Israel, or any other country. The USA is different in that our Constitution guarantees Religious Freedom for ALL... YES ALL it's citizens. The MUSLIMS, AS WELL AS ALL IT"S CITIZENS! You want to restrict the rights of American citizens based on Religion! Once again... See the first amendment!

Well you can't display a cross in the desert as a sign of respect for fallen soldiers. The libs are trying to remove the word God from just about every document, phrase, even off our money. and our president tells the world that we're not a Christian nation. You can't hand out Christian literature near a Muslim event and they even went so far as to try to have crosses removed off all federal land. Muslims good Christians bad in the new world order.
Where to begin... ***~"Well you can't display a cross in the desert as a sign of respect for fallen soldiers."~ Of course you can. Don't be ridiculous! Go buy some land, put up a cross or a hundred crosses... Of course you wouldn't expect the taxpayers to erect, maintain or pay for your cross would you??? And of course you wouldn't expect to put your religious symbol on Federal or State TAXPAYERS LAND, would you??? YOU WOULD? You want to disregard the US Constitution... spend the US government or a state government tax dollars to erect or maintain a Religious Symbol? I thought you Conservatives believed in the US Constitution.
***~"The libs are trying to remove the word God from just about every document"~ What document is that??? I know of no movement to remove the word "GOD" from any document or from our money... did you hear about this on Fox news or Druggy Rush???
***~"and our president tells the world that we're not a Christian nation"~ That's correct. The USA by law is NOT a Christian Nation. Our Constitution forbids it. It would be against the law to declare it so. (See the first amendment)
The First Amendment (Amendment I) in part, prohibits the making of any law "RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION", impeding the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

Box you are a true liberal progressive, twist the words in the Constitution to mean what ever you want them to mean and never take them at face value. The cross in the desert was not paid for by our government but a group of vets who maintained it until some of your liberal friends destroyed it. As usual if you can't dispute the facts bury it in BS. The first amendment was aimed at the government not the people. The Separation Of Church and State
The phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear anywhere in the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson wrote that the 1st Amendment erected a "wall of separation" between the church and the state (James Madison said it "drew a line," but it is Jefferson's term that sticks with us today). The phrase is commonly thought to mean that the government should not establish, support, or otherwise involve itself in any religion. The Religion Topic Page addresses this issue in much greater detail.
Separation of Church & State are YOUR words, not mine, and are NOT in the US Constitution.
The Cross IS on Federal (TAXPAYER) land... not on private land. You should really keep up with the news on this issue... Back in April, the supreme court overturned the ruling against the cross.
Your words "Well you can't display a cross in the desert" are NOT True. No one is trying to take the word "GOD" from our money... and The United States by law is NOT a Christian Nation.
SO I ask you again...
Quoted from Shadow The progressive liberals have no trouble restricting the "Christians freedoms"
Tell me Shadow, what Christian Freedoms are being restricted???
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
Our country was founded on Christian principles and all the spin in the world won't change that. I said that liberal progressives were trying to have religious freedoms banned some have succeeded and some have failed and religious symbols are being forced to be removed from state and federal locations where they have been displayed for years without a problem until some liberal atheist files a lawsuit and a liberal judge rules that they must be removed. If nobody is trying to remove the cross from the desert then where did it go on vacation. It just goes to show that when you liberals can't win in court you take matters into your own hands. Military Cemeteries are on Federal land are all the crosses that mark our fallen heroes graves to be removed as well. Separation of church and state is what has been used to take God out of our schools and they have succeeded even though by your own admission there is no power in the Constitution for them to do so.
Nothing in the first amendment says you can build any house of worship wherever you want. There are over 400 mosques in NYC. The discrimination argument is laughable. There is no need for another one by the fallen twin towers-that were knocked down by murderous unrepentant Islamic fanatics.
Nobody is discriminating against Muslims. Reasonable time, place and manner restrictions must be enacted. Read the case law. This is all about the Muslims enacting a shrine near the fallen twin towers. They are raising money from Saudi Arabia and all over the Muslim world. This is not just an American issue-it's about America once again bowing scraping to people that want our way of life to be destroyed. Bravo to Rick Lazio, Rep King and many others fighting this moronic plan.
Military Cemeteries are on Federal land are all the crosses that mark our fallen heroes graves to be removed as well.
It never fails... some Fox News or Glenn Beck report will accuse the Left of something, and the sheep believe it as truth! The ACLU is trying to take away the crosses from our Military Cemeteries!!! Boo Hoo! A great story, but IT ISN'T TRUE!
The Truth... The ACLU sued to have all religions represented equally at Military burials. the ACLU has sued – not to force removal of crosses – but to force the government to add the Wiccan pentacle to the list of 38 religious symbols allowed on headstones by the National Cemeteries Administration. ~"ACLU’s Caplan: The government has no business picking and choosing which personal religious beliefs may be expressed. All veterans, regardless of their religion, deserve to have their faith recognized on an equal basis."~ In 2007 the Government agreed and included the Wiccan Pentacle.

Although some Conservatives like to spread the "Christian Nation" propaganda, the truth can be found in the list of different religions represented in Americas National Military Cemeteries.
Not a Christian Nation, but a Nation made up of over 40 Religions. The Christian Cross, along side the Jewish Star of David, and the Muslim Crescent and Star. It's called Religious freedom guaranteed by the first amendment of the US Constitution.

Box read what I said I was being sarcastic when I said what about the crosses in the Military Cemeteries are they going to remove them too. As I said our nation was founded on Christian principles and the founders were very concerned about being able to have religious freedom because many of our first settlers came here to get away from religious persecution in the countries that they fled from. If you are saying that a "Christian Nation" is a country made up of a majority of Christians... then we agree... in the way you could say we are a "right handed nation" because most Americans are right handed.
Other religions in the USA are in the minority... a minority who's rights are protected equally with Christians.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
Nobody is restricting any Muslims right to pray in any of the 400+ mosques in NYC. Stop being a dupe for a terrorist front group that wants to erect a shrine to the criminals of 9/11. The vast majority of residents and survivors are against this. This is not a first amendment issue. Its about revisionist history.
"Its about revisionist history?" What Revisionist History??
OK, One More Time.
If Christians wanted to build a church in the same place that the Muslim mosque is going to be built... and a group of Religious Fanatics launched a campaign of lies to prevent the church from being built... The US Constitution, under the 1st amendment, would find the campaign in violation of the Christians rights.
ANY & ALL religions have the same rights in the USA. This is no different that if a Catholic church was proposed near the WTC and a group of Fanatical Muslim Extremists opposed it... Ridiculous!
