Well, if Hamas endorses it, it must be good.

Legally the Muslims can and should be able to build a Mosque wherever they get approval.
That's legally, but morally or sensitivity wise, should they? I think that is VERY open to debate.

In a lot of ways, the Islamic leadership is their own worst enemy in the US. They fail, time and after time to come out STRONGLY in objection to anything violence done in the name of Islam. And when they fail to do this, it does give the impression that they are condoning it.

German mosque used by Sept. 11 attackers shut down

(AP) – Aug 8, 2010

BERLIN — German authorities say they have closed a Hamburg mosque used by the Sept. 11 attackers as a meeting place before they moved to the United States.

A statement by Hamburg officials says the Taiba mosque was shut down and its cultural association was banned on Monday.

The prayer house, formerly known as al-Quds mosque, used to be a meeting and recruiting point for some of the Sept. 11 attackers.

Weekly news magazine Focus cites a report by a local intelligence agency branch in saying the mosque has again become the city's "main center of attraction for the jihad scene." It says some members who belonged to the Taiba group and prayed at the mosque have moved on to a radical training camp in Uzbekistan.

Officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Um... Once again... This Mosque is NOT being built at the WTC ground zero.
It's being built in an abandoned warehouse  that was the Burlington Coat Factory 2 blocks from the WTC,
but,
facts never get in the way of a good biased Conservative Rant.

The building was once part of a textile district surrounding City Hall.

On Sept. 11, the landing gear assembly of one of the planes used in the attack crashed through the roof of what was then a Burlington Coat Factory.

"On Sept. 11, the landing gear assembly of one of the planes used in the attack crashed through the roof of what was then a Burlington Coat Factory"...

And debris went much further throughout NYC.  Is the entire area of hundreds of blocks that were covered with debris ... Is it ALL Sacred Ground???
The Porn shop that was white with dust... is that also Sacred Ground?
The portapotties that were full of crap, dust and debris of the WTC... Are they all Sacred Ground???
The hundreds of taxi's that were covered with cement, and dust of the crumbled WTC... are they memorials???

You can pick and chose which areas to be considered "sacred ground" and it appears, wherever there is a Mosque, it will be determined to be "offensive and being built on Sacred Ground of the WTC.

This issue isn't about Religion or the WTC memorial, or about terrorism....
This issue is about the November elections.

What happened to Obama's support? Is he backing off his support for this monument to the Muslim killers? Sounds like a man of staunch backbone! He was for the mosque before he was against it!!!!!!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Reid: Build mosque elsewhere

(AP) – 2 hours ago

WASHINGTON — The Senate's top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.

In a statement, Reid said the first amendment protects freedom of religion and he respects that, but the mosque should be built somewhere else.

Critics have said the location of the mosque is insensitive because the terrorists who struck were Islamic extremists.

Reid is in a tight campaign for re-election in Nevada. His opponent, Republican Sharron Angle, earlier in the day called for Reid to say whether he agreed with Obama.

It is amusing to say the least, how the left calls the right 'too emotional' about this whole mosque issue. But let's hear the left cry now that a judge put a ban on gay marriage in good old california.

And isn't it funny how the secular humanist government for the last 10-20 years has been taking down everything Christian from crosses to the ten commandments. Kids have been kicked out of school for wearing rosary beads and reading their christian bibles. But the muslim women are allowed to wear their burkas and the men are allowed to wear their fruit of the loom towels on their head!!!

I think the japs should be able to erect a monument in memory of all the kamikaze pilots that died when they bombed perl harbor. Don'tcha think?

It's so pathetic, it's laughable!

BT--you are such a drama queen.  You don't seem to have any grasp of the facts in this situation.  What do you care if Muslim women wear burkas.  How does that affect your dismal life?  Kid thrown out wearing a rosary was also BS.  But then again a rosary is not a piece of jewelry.

I dont care what your religion is.....but when you think and act like your religion is more right than the other------THERE'S A PROBLEM.....and if you think
you have a right to sacrifice people for your own religion, whether they be of your own klan or some other hethen then----YOU GET A MUZZLE AND
SOME HAND CUFFS.......JMHO....

religion is on the wind.....no idles/no icons or anything of such nature.....THAT IS JUST HOW PERSONAL IT IS.....and if GOD(any god) is that big...
it doesn't really care about this small marble anymore than the rest of the infinite universe......

Reid: Mosque Should Be Built Someplace Else
First Posted: 08-16-10 03:36 PM   |   Updated: 08-16-10 04:01 PM

President Barack Obama's endorsement of the "Ground Zero mosque" during a speech on Friday night spurred some hope among supporters that a forceful case could be made for both the project's constitutionality and its larger geopolitical impact.

That hope was short-lived. By Saturday, the president clarified that he was not speaking about the "wisdom" of the Islamic cultural center per se, just the right of the group to build the Cordoba House in downtown Manhattan.

And on Monday the highest-ranking Democrat in the Senate officially came out against construction of the mosque in its current location

"The First Amendment protects freedom of religion," reads a statement from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office (D-Nev.). "Senator Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built someplace else. If the Republicans are being sincere, they would help us pass this long overdue bill to help the first responders whose health and livelihoods have been devastated because of their bravery on 911, rather than continuing to block this much-needed legislation.".................>>>>..............>>>>.............................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/16/reid-mosque-should-be-bui_n_683762.html
