What do you expect from a man (Bloomburg) who changes his politcial party about as often as he changes his underwear?

Conservatives Love the US Constitution... They hold it high with their hands on their chest and wave the flag as they quote the Constitution...
Except,
when it differs with their agenda... then the Constitution is a flexible expendable document to be ignored!

First Amendment of the US Constitution:(in part)
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF;

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Nobody is questioning they have the RIGHT to do this.  We're pissed at the timing, the insensitivity and the financing of the project

...well in an ideal world it would be nice if there weren't, but they have the right, until they all go and do something that really ticks Americans off. But there is no way in hell they should be overturning historical designations of any property and bending rules for them to build this THERE.

No, they just needed to have the historic commission overturn the historic designation on a 150 year old building. Try that on a building in Schenectady half as old, and you will get NO WHERE. Unless of course it is a cult center for muzzies and liberal democraps run the town and want to bend over to perform fellatio as eagerly as they can so as to appear "politically correct" and "tolerant." Like you.

The 'historic building' is a Burlington Coat Factory warehouse.  It has NO historic significance.
It's private property and the owners have the right to build a mosque or anything else that meets code.

...yeah, that is why it was on the historic rolls! And of course if it was a McDonald's going up then you would say they would "have no right to overstep their bounds and destroy a fine historic building!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" STOP THEM!!!!!!!!

You liberals amaze me with you sanctimoniousness and yet when it involves assisting any group that wants to overturn America and destroy our established mores then you jump up as fast as you can to defend and assist them because you both have the same matter at heart- You hate America. We understand you, its what you are. Liberals love anyone that is collectivist and hates America so you can bet that any rule can be changed for them. Throw in the fact that they are third worlders and we have a trifecta!

You ought to burn with the sonsofbitches.

The Constitution only guarantees that there is a right to build but it sure doesn't guarantee that you can build it where ever you want.

Yea, pretty much it does!  If you meet all codes, and legal requirements, then you can build it anywhere you want.

Yes, and codes and zoning can be changed by local and state governments.  Nobody is prohibiting the exercise of religion, just where the house of worship is built.  This is about the building, NOT their right to worship.  Quite a stretch Box.

Do towns or cities have the right to change codes to prevent a gun shop opening next to a school?

It was a national movement; people were stopping Walmart from building stores in their towns.  Town codes were changed, and lawsuits were filed to stop them from building.  Never once did you hear a liberal quote the Constitution and property rights.

Muslim - good

"Greedy" Walmart - Bad

Walmart was stopped by zoning, and historic preservation laws.  But if there is no zoning in place when WalMart is proposed, it is much more difficult to stop them.  If the Walmart area is zoned commercial, with like businesses in the area, traffic and all other codes are followed... the Walmart will be built.  It's illegal to spot zone one specific business out of an area.
There are other churches in the WTC neighborhood, and even other Mosques there.  If the only reason offered is "we don't like your religion" then it's unconstitutional.
There are Conservatives that want NO NEW Mosques built ANYWHERE in the USA.

For Conservatives, freedom of religion means 'freedom of MY religion'.
