SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Larcenies increase, top crime statistics
Report: Violent county crime diminishes
BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

Hard economic times mean more work for police as crime rates, driven by larcenies, increased for municipalities in Schenectady County in 2009 compared to the year before, according to a state report released Tuesday.
Even as violent crimes declined, Schenectady County saw the highest crime rate per capita in the Capital Region in 2009 and the state, according to the report by the state Division of Criminal Justice Services. Other counties in the Capital Region saw their larceny counts decline.
Local officials attribute the high rate to many factors, including better crime reporting, an increase in larcenies triggered by hard economic times and the presence of Operation IMPACT in the city, which improves police work.
The county’s index crime rate, which represents the number of crimes per 100,000 population, was 3,829 in 2009, up from 2008’s rate of 3,723, according to the DCJS. Erie had the second highest rate in 2009,
at 3,607, a decline from 2008’s total of 3,674. .............>>>>..............>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00102&AppName=1

In 2009 Schenectady County had the highest crime rate in the entire State. Better reporting or more criminals moving in? Only the People's Gazetto could fudge a headline and make this seem like good news.

The highest tax rates, highest crime rate and worst school district in the State. Worst unemployment since the Depression. But did you hear another Mexican restaurant maybe coming? Thank you "working together team" for all your efforts. Please pass a margarita.............

Anyone that had anything worth stealing has shipped out, so crime has to be down.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I would like to see the stats, town by town.

Here's a stat (from the DOJ) in 1990 New York City accounted for 63% of the statewide crime. After Rudy it tumbled to 43% by 1999. The criminals moved to Upstate NY especially to welfare/socialist paradise Schenectady County where they were welcomed with open arms by Savage & Crew.

NEWSFLASH: According to my sources Savage for Senate is kaput. Sue Savage is not leaving Schenectady County for the State Senate. With all the local candidates DEMS are scrabbling to find someone for State Senate or Assembly.

What a joke! If people believe crime is down in Schenectady they are stupid. Maybe these stats are down because the police aren't doing anything. Schenectady is a warzone, run by lazy leaders collecting fat paychecks!

The only people that believe this are the Gazetto headline writers. Violent crimes were down a bit but the overall crime rate is the highest in the State.
