The dunkin donuts by 5 corners is clearly not immune to graffiti. That nice white vinyl fence has been spray painted with purple paint. What a shame.

It looks awful. And the owners always keep the place nice there.

"Tagging" is very discouraging to the people who work in a place that has been hit. My office has been targeted with some anarchist grafitti as well as anti-Semitic grafitti. We have also been picketed by the Westboro Baptist Church. It is disturbing to see that amount of racism in the Capital District.
Yeah and those jamoaks who did it need some serious art lessons! That is the ugliest (and not all grafitti is ugly) "art" I have ever seen. Make them clean it up during the hottest day of the year with their toothbrushes during rush hour so we can throw our spare pennies at them!

C'mon boomer, it's artistic expression. Wouldn't you rather the see the poor troubled youth act out their hate and rage using spray paint than their fist's or worse yet a gun? In some ways, this expression of hate could be therapeutic, and actually prevent these poor troubled youth from committing violent HATE crimes. >
I'm sorry, I can't help but laugh... I'm trying to let my inner liberal come through and speak on this forum. Wow, I never thought I had it in me...I guess I can temporarily warp my thinking and find a way to make the criminal the victim of society.

Tagging is discouraging. Though you probably won't remember this, we had a project in Albany many years ago that did just what you said. We took angry youth and got businesses to let the kids draw murals on the sides of their buildings. It was great.
As for the Westboro Baptist Church--that was disturbing and very hurtful. But they were allowed their free speech. I was screamed at and called a "Jewess" and a "Jewish whore." Despite the fact that you know who and what they are, the words are disturbing. It is a level of hate I had never experienced before...not even on this forum.
I find it absolutely non-productive and even somewhat questionable to direct and give permission to todays youth by having them commit an illegal action under the guise of legal. It just shows them that 'anger pays' and will just reinforce that manipulative behavior as they grow.
These 'angry taggers' need to be disciplined for their illegal actions. Just like everyone else who engages in illegal behavior and feels it's ok to break the law because someone will come along and give them permission.
If these 'angry taggers' are so artistic, than they need to be directed to a piece of canvas with brushes and paint. Not the side of a building or a white fence that is private property and belongs to someone other than themselves.
Schenectady was going to follow the albany program until it became a laughing stock in theory and in action. People realized that it was nothing more than a feel good program for the ones running it. It never alleviated the problem of tagging.

Excellent idea! Maybe it will save me some rent....
Not to worry!
