Quoted Text
GM CEO Ed Whitacre announced in a Wall Street Journalcolumn Wednesday that his company has paid back its government bailout loan "in full, with interest, years ahead of schedule." He is even running TV ads on all major networks to that effect--a needless expense given that a credulous media is only too happy to parrot his claims for free. Detroit Free Press' Mike Thompson, for example, advises bailout proponents to start "warming up their vocal chords" to jeer their opponents with chants of "I told you so."

But before belting out their victory aria, GM-boosters ought to hear the whole story--not just the fairytale version about Government Motors' grand comeback that Mr. Whitacre is feeding them.

here's an idea.....all those 'bailouts'(hhhmmmm, joke)...should have gone to re-edumacate the workers to build safety valves for oil rigs,,,hence
mandated safety valves and less mess.....oh, yeah,,,,,cant touch the oil gumbas,,,,can we now.....though I dont know about their workforce and what
that entails,,,,maybe the unions should be up on looking out for their workers and their interests, for the um...just in case your 'job security' fails
scenario...........BTW, maybe making batteries is shortsighted........or is it half sighted........??????

JMHO.......bigger picture......

1) the oil rig was a test rig and was due to be shut down the next day
2) BP drilled deeper then they were supposed to drill.

Kind of an odd rant.

How can GM CEO Ed Whitacre do tv commercials and LIE to the American public. GM is NOT making a profit, and borrowed from one govt. program to pay back another.

It's like us paying off one credit card, with another one.

NO WAY will I buy a Government Motors vehicle.
