"To off" someone means to kill them.  Your post is excellent.  That is exactly how I feel about you and your posts!

Boomer some of us like having you on the forum, it would be pretty boring if everyone agreed on every subject. I'm glad to hear that your daughter came over from the dark side and joined the world of reality.

Thanks Shadow.

Joanne--spoke with Michael Burgess tonight.  He said if the colonoscopy is going to be intermittent it is because of the insurance company they have.  The new law will offer several tests including colonoscopy annually and there will be no cost for them to the patient.  I have forwarded your story to him already.  He has alaready done several recorded programs about the new law and seniors.

He would be happy to come to Rotterdam and speak re: to this issue.  I suppose I would have to call DM to get her on board.  If you think it would be wise I will set it up.

Sunnie-I know of NO seniors who really believe that hype about death panels.  GB is correct--the docs and the church is for this bill.  You are wrong in your thinking.  I have a doc living across the street from me.  She works in an ER/ICU in NYC and is DEFINITELY for this law.  She is a young doc about 36 yrs. old.  Seniors were being lied to and many tore up their cards because they believed that crap that Palin was promoting.

Healthcare is out of control.

Many seniors are so against Obamacare, that they ripped up their AARP card. WHY do you think they did that?

The bishops are against this bill because of abortion and lack of a conscience clause.

Logic should tell everyone without an agenda, that if they cut Medicare $500 BILLION, something's gonna give when it comes to seniors' health care.

Sunny,
I missed the beginning of this thread--I think it is about Tonko and his religious beliefs.  I have been in NYC.  So my forum time is quite limited when I amthere.  I voted for Tonko and hope he makes his decisions based on what the voters want.  I have never known any other law than abortion being permitted.  Unlike some on here, I think abortion is between me and my God.  Praying outside of planned Parenthood is a waste of time.  The young women leaving that place need your help more.  Tonko has been a good politician even though I backed Tracey Brooks.

Alley, the abortion issue is between you, your God, and your conscience just so long as the taxpayer doesn't have to pay for it. As it is right now Tonko voted for a bill that allows taxpayer money to fund abortions and that's just plain wrong.

I can't believe people actually believe the government should stay out of the abortion issue - believing that it's between the pregnant women and their God.  But in the same breath believe it is the role of the government to mandate health insurance, even if a person "chooses" not to have it.

WOW! How far have we fallen as a nation?  We live in a country where people believe unborn need no legal protection, and believe it is a "choice" to kill.   While saying nothing about the federal government forcing socialized health care on to the masses.   The illogic of the liberal left makes it apparent that this was just a power grab by an ideology/party to further control the people.

They left really doesn't believe in CHOICE.

RE:  Joanne's post about colonoscopy not being covered--I offer the following from Director Michael Burgess"--

The national health care reform legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama will have a significant positive impact for New York State's more than 3.3 million senior citizens. Among other benefits, beginning on January 1, 2011, Medicare beneficiaries will receive a free, annual wellness visit and will have all cost-sharing waived for prevention services. Retirees who are Medicare beneficiaries will have access to these services without cost sharing and, we expect, with improved health outcomes and quality of life.
Michael J. Burgess, Director
New York State Office for the Aging
2 Empire State Plaza
Albany, NY 12223-1251(51 474-4425
aging.ny.gov

Further he tells me if anyone has had a denial from their insurance regarding colonoscopy, call his office or mail it to him and he will have someone in the office investigate it with Medicare.

Hope this helps--he is great about responding to this type of problem.

Medicare already covers a free wellness exam every year, I've had 3 of them so far so they're giving us nothing and telling us it's great. Boomer I'll ask you again how can you add 30 million more people onto the health-care system with the same number of doctors and not cut benefits. How can you cut 500 million dollars out of the medicare system and not cut benefits. I'll give you a clue there isn't 500 million dollars in fraud in the system so where's it going to come from. I've already heard that the administration has been saying that a colonoscopy will not be done every 5 years like it is now but will be done when there are other factors present like pain, bleeding, or family history.

You are correct! These WERE already covered and not just under medicare but it was mandated to private insurance companies as well.

Now without going into a long drawn out story here, a friend of mines father has a heart condition and needs to have a defibrillator implanted. He has been in and out of the hospital with symptoms that would be resolved with this defibrillator. However, the GOVERNMENT says he has to get 'worse' before he can have one implanted. Which translates into.....'hopefully he will die first'. So now does the doctor 'lie' about his condition, to save his patient's life. Or does he follow the GOVERNMENT rules and possibly watch him die?

Boomer, I don't care what bill of goods they are selling.......it is an out and out lie!!!!! Even tonko is full of sh!t!!! I wonder if he even read the bill. He's just the usual puppet selling lies to the people for the liberal socialists. Remember, he has to....they employ him.

Doctors are already saying they will quit this profession due to it's restrictive health care practices. And shadow is also right.....where the hell are they going to get the money for this. It is all bullsh!t. Don't buy into it boomer or anyone else for that matter. Just open up the state lines for competition and enforce tort reform! Simple as that!

Agreed BT. Open up the states borders so we can benefit from the competition. Then you will see the price of medical insurance drop. Tort reform, as I stated earlier, will also impact cost greatly. It is all bullshit that Obama, Tonko, and the rest are feeding us. This healthcare is going to grow into a black hole devouring our tax dollars while delivering nothing. Another entitlement program funded on the backs of the "working" middle class. Mark my words. If they get their way with immagration reform and grant amnesty to all illegals they will also be added to this monster and we will wind up like England, Canada, and all the rest of the countries with socialized medicine. We won't be able to provide the type of care we are used to.

Is murdering the born also between you and "your" God? btw, we all have the same God.

If you supported Tracey Brooks, you are quite liberal, but liberals are people too.

We now know (I always did know), the "choice" people are disingenuous.

Looking for more incentive to vote out Dems and take Pelosi's gavel from her?

Here it is:

Note how she gloats, even though the majority of Americans are against Obama/Pelosicare. The lady has no class.
