What does anyone think of Levy for gov? He is a conservative dem who is moving to the GOP and is the executive of Suffolk county who won last year with the Dem, Rep and Cons lines. He is tough on illegal immigration and is a fiscal hawk, and an Albany outsider. The police unions there hate him because he is not afraid to stand up to union demands. GOP chair of this county Tom Buchanan blasted him hard in the TU since he has all his chips on Lazio apparently. Lazio seems to me to be a total sacrificial lamb, very wishy washy and not a strong leader of any substance. I can't imagine he could win in 100 tries.

I have been leaning to Levy for a while now. What say the people? (we don't need the RACC contingent because we know they are all board with their bosses at the assembly to back Lazio.) I want to hear what non-politicians think???

I don't know enough about Levy to make a comment. All I can say is that this appears to be another way to split the rep party. Samewith GP and GA. But time will tell.

Like I said....it's too early in the game to make a choice or even to form an opinion. What I am saying is that it doesn't make sense that the rep party would split the votes. Cuomo will be a tough contender for sure. I would have thought that the reps would solidify the party behind one candidate to possibly shore up the win. No?

I don't think it matters who the Reps offer up s the sacrifical lamb.  Cuomo is going home with the prize.  I didn't like Levy when he was a Dem either.

Lazio's campaign is hoping to besmirch Levy's character in other ways as well. Earlier today it sent out a transcript of a 2004 conversation Levy had with Stephen Baranello, his campaign adviser who was eventually convicted on bribery charges. The Lazio campaign highlights Levy's use of "crass language":
Steve Levy- I understand he's taking major calls from f**king Judy Pascale every week. Judy Pascale's that f**king pr**k who worked with Romaine.

Stephen Baranello - I know who you are talking about.

ALLRIGHTY THEN!!! This guy clearly fits in better with the dem party. Is this the best the GOP could do? Yup that makes sense....spit the rep party with a guy like this! Who was the brilliant rep who picked this guy? And who will be the brilliant reps to support him? WTH?

haha You're such an a**, BT. This isn't nursery school...it's the real world.  I'm more worried about how my rep will fight for me than how much he curses.

I'm afraid that boomer is right. Doesn't matter who Reps. put up. Cuomo will win in a walk. The fact that he hasn't declared yet all has to do with the current budget still be hammered out. Doesn't want to comment or commit for fear that he will be painted as an Albany insider, which he is. Another liberal dem. elected in this toilet of a state. He can carry on his father's tradition and spend and spend. In a way he reminds me of Spitzer. Coming from the same position and with all the fanfare. Our tough AG who will ride roughshod over all the Albany powerbrokers and deliver this state from bankruptcy. Bullsh*t!

Levy is worse than Lazio, imo.

I heard a bit on Fred Dicker's show that somebody wants to run who will use millions of his own money, and he sounds truly conservative. Darn, I can't remember the name, but I think he's Italian.
