Fee hike for city park use under review

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

Using Central Park may become much more expensive as the city tries to raise money to fill a projected $13 million deficit.
The City Council is considering new fees for athletic games and special events, including festivals and foot races.
Until now, only baseball players had to pay to use the park fields. Their fee would increase by a third, while new fees would be added for cricket, softball and special events.
Baseball would cost $75 per game, under the new proposal; games played with lights would cost $150, but most school organizations would be exempted.
City Mission director Mike Saccocio, who also manages a baseball team, told the council he felt the fee would still be quite reasonable, because other fields cost $100 or more.
“Fifty dollars [the current rate] was way below market rate,” he said. “Seventy-five puts you about in the middle.”.......................>>>>...............>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01304&AppName=1

Maybe cut spending. But once you build a welfare skyscraper that costs billions, you have to maintain it, or it will collapse and kill many people. Or was the plan all along? Now we HAVE to prop it up b/c it is "life or death."

Always a good reason to stay lean, and not do more then you need. Government has made too many people dependent on it for too many things...Of course when money is flowing in, very few people think about saving for  rainy day...

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

At the rate the government is spending our money I predict that the money train will stop running very soon because if this health-care bill is enacted the countries triple a rating is a thing of the past and our interest rates to borrow along with the taxes we pay will sky rocket.
