Kosiur was trying to pass sex-offenders to the hilltowns.  It wasn't that hard to rally the troops against an idiot like that.

Kosiur still had the 'machine' behind him and Amedore was an unknown...never in politics!  And people 'will' remember that it was Amedore who did oppose the stupid sex offender law. People will still want to continue in feeling secure that they 'still' will have an advocate for this issue.  Amedore has the grass roots support on his stand on protecting the farmers and farmland. And Amedore backs the propose funding for autism.

But why should anyone even be surprised that the local rep party would AGAIN try to unseat an electable, viable candidate? That's what they do! They eat their own.

That's why it just doesn't make any sense. One can only believe that this is a rift between RACC and the locals. Nothing else adds up! IMHO

Bumble, I guess you aren't Mertz, I've John I've never known you to be the humble type... But seriously what has Amedore done about the budget or taxes? Those are issues we all care about, and I'm thinking the CPA, Attorney, former auditor may have more to say on these subjects than the guy who inherited his father's business.

I dunno, he is a CPA and an attorney.  Went to Pace, I think.  Also, his father doesn't really work much anymore - as opposed to George's, who runs the business.  I don't think there's any question that Amedore was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.  The same can't be said for Gerard.

Leave it to the Rotterdam Republicans to knock out all their candidates who actually were elected.

So true. Newsflash: The 105th AD is bigger than Rotterdam. The fact that GA did not waste time at this money losing dinner is actually a positive thing.

I hope that Lazio wins the Governorship and wipes out both chambers in NYS and replaces it with an entirely new single body.

You people are something else, which is why I chose to lurk instead of joining in on this mindless banter. And you wonder why Rotterdam politics are so skewed? Here's the so-called letter, reprinted in its entirety for all you knobs still rolling around in the filth of yesteryear. I've heard the Spotlight took a beating from the GOP for using the term 'illiterate' not only once, but twice. I don't know why, since that was clearly the message in this missive. ENJOY. I know I sure enjoy your cracked-out notions of reality...

Dear Chairman Cooke:

I received your letter dated October 5, 2009 whereby you declined on behalf of your supervisor candidate Frank DelGallo to partake in a series of three debates with Town  Supervisor Steven Tommasone.

Additionally, your letter inquires as to why we only proposed to debate the supervisor race.  Please allow me to explain.

First, we wish to publicly discuss for open and honest consumption the incredible record that Supervisor Steven Tommasone has over the past four years.  Not only has he essentially kept taxes flat, he has successfully addressed long outstanding problems such as the Rotterdam Junction Water tank and numerous drainage issues in several neighborhoods, including Bluebird Lane, Houlton Ave, and especially in Masullo Estates.  He and Highway Superintendent Jim Longo worked together with the Town Board to reconstruct and repave over one hundred thirty roads.  All of this has been accomplished while keeping the overall tax levy of the town essentially flat.

Additionally, your candidate has already disseminated many statements and misinformation with regard to Supervisor Tommasone which is in direct violation of the League of Women Voters Fair Campaign Pledge.  Furthermore, we do not believe Mr. DelGallo is even close to being qualified to be the supervisor of our great Town of Rotterdam for the following reasons:

1.     He has never disclosed his level of formal education and training.
2.     Several people have claimed/alleged that he may not even be able to read and write on his own.  The town is a complex operation.  I hope this is not the case.
3.     He has no concept of how a Town Government works having publicly stated that upon his election he will be firing the Town Assessor - who is appointed and must fill his term - and that he does not even know what the issues are facing our town.
4.     He claims that Supervisor Tommasone directs the Rotterdam IDA when in fact the Rotterdam IDA is a separate and distinct legal entity and has its own independent board for decision making.  The IDA has made numerous grants aiding dozens of small businesses in town and helping create or save approximately 1,500 jobs in just the past four years.
5.     He has claimed that he will end the Police Commission when in fact it was ended over two years ago with Supervisor Tommasone casting the first vote to dissolve it.
6.     He has asked for a $250,000 assessment on his 5,500 square foot home, log cabin, pool cabana, lake, multiple stall garage and ninety acres of land.  His residence is conservatively described as a palatial estate.  Aerial photos of his premises are accessible on-line through the assessment information on the town’s Web site.
7.     In regards to his election financial disclosures, he has taken many questionable donations and has benefited into the tens of thousands of dollars from some large in-kind donations from the Mallozzi’s which were not reported as required under NYS Election Law.

In light of the above we believe that he is quite possibly the most unqualified candidate to ever run for this position and is a dangerous threat to the well being of the Town of Rotterdam.  As such, we wish to debate him, not only at a simple forum such as the League of Woman Voters, but an actual debate so he can display his agenda, knowledge and abilities.

Thanks for posting this Hack, it confirms what I was told....the letter was addressed to Bill Cooke, not any public body.  So this assures  me that the Dems said to the media look what GP said.  I am also sure they left out the words "peolpe have claimed/alleged" which is follow by, not "and I agree", but rather "I hope that this is not the case".  Tough words, ok maybe, but more of a question from GP (the Rep commitee) to get answers to claims from what is posted in this letter.  So IMHO, the dems and the papers put their spin on, leaving out the above mention "claims/alleged" part, instead of just saying anything, as simple as this is in no way true, let's get them together and debate the issues.

So now seeing the actual letter, I have to say that it is the case that GP is getting an on going beating over things that were not said but asked of the opposing party and the Dems took advantage of this letter to help sink the Rep camp last election.

First it was GP said these things about FDG and then we heard transparentcy will be the new way of goverment.  Now we see GP questioning Cooke not saying , but referring to comments and as will be the case Weds, the open goverment promise will be nothing more then an empty promise......

I had my opinions of the "leaders" in the town before, some good and some bad of all of them, but my beliefs are becoming more and more clear with each week that goes by......

honesty and transparency and to the point conversations are not welcomed here......I see nothing wrong with the letter...it was very cut and dry and to the point......with or without thick skin.....

MT, I thought GA was running for Assembly of the State of New York...I guess he thinks he is running for Assembly of Facebook. Also, I guess it really is true that GA doesn't do anything like the rest of us. He is even attending a St. Patrick's day parade in "VIP Style" Why not attend in normal person style?

Seems to me GP was trying to articulate his hope that rumors weren't true. It doesn't appear that GP accused FDG of anything. But back to the point, where is Amedore? I agree with Penalty Kick, facebook posting doesn't make up for his absence here in the real world.

Benny....the rotterdam politicians can't seem to get their heads out of their 'dark spot'. GA has moved on! Thank God!!! Perhaps GA hasn't performed like everyone wanted or expected him to....but to think that GP is even close in comparison is laughable.

That's the problem with rotterdam....their head is so far up their 'dark spot' that they can't see the light. There really is life beyond and above rotterdam.
