Poll: NYers want Cuomo for governor
The Business Review (Albany)

More New Yorkers think “other” is doing a better job resolving budget problems than Gov. David Paterson or the state Legislature.

That’s the finding of the latest Siena Research Institute poll.

According to the Siena poll, 26 percent of voters volunteered that none of the choices—Paterson, Democrats in the Legislature or Republicans in the Legislature—are doing the best job resolving the budget.

However, among those listed, 23 percent of respondents said Paterson was doing a better job, while 19 percent credited Democrats in the Legislature and 19 percent credited Republicans in the Legislature.

Gov. Paterson’s personal favorability is up for the second month in a row, from 33 percent in November to 36 percent in December. A year ago, his favorability was at 63 percent. Still, 65 percent of those surveyed said they would prefer someone else to lead the state.

“Although it is the best Paterson has done on this measurement since February, it is still more than three-to-one negative,” Steven Greenberg, a Siena Research Institute pollster. The institute is affiliated with Siena College in Loudonville.

The person 67 percent of Democratic respondents would like to see run is Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who hasn’t announced his candidacy. However, Cuomo’s favorability fell from 70 percent in November to 67 percent in December.......................>>>>................>>>>..............http://albany.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2009/12/14/daily6.html?t=printable

Before I could consider supporting Mr. Cuomo, I would need to see that he is independent and principled to the degree
that he, as New York State Attorney General will uphold the law and prosecute those of any political affiliation who are suspected of
violating the law.

There are several issues, among those the illegal activities that allegedly occurred at the Schenectady City School District, in which
Attorney General Cuomo and his office should be involved, but, for reason unknown, are not.  Until and unless he exhibits such
principled leadership, I cannot entertain his candidacy for NYS Governor.

When NYS Attorney General Cuomo was invited as a guest to speak to the Conservative Party Political Action Committee meeting last year,
he stated his interest in eliminating layers of government to reduce taxes.  I agree that this needs to occur.  However, I am against the abstraction
of power from local to state and federal government levels.

If Mr. Cuomo decides to enter the race for NYS Governor, he should answer what layers of government (i.e., what government bodies, public authorities, etc.) he is interested in eliminating.  If he doesn't explicitly state his intentions to the electorate, I would fear that he would transfer power and authority from local government to state and federal government.

No Offense Mr Littlefield but why should we care about your views of Mr Cuomo?  You really had little impact on your county race outside of Duanesburg.  Maybe a run for a town office would be a better spring board for your obvious large ego.

Posting from a position of anonimity as you are, I won't engage.  But, if you would like to discuss the ~1700 votes that I received on an independent
ballot line without the endorsement, financing, or support from any established party, I would be pleased to do so.  I would prefer to know who I am dealing with first.

And, your opinions are even less regarded because we have no framework within which to evaluate them.

Brad makes a very reasonable point.  The federal government is siezing power left and right and you dont think it is reasonable to ask our potential future gov. candidates where they stand on certain issues regarding the levels of our govt. and where the power should be.

you personal attack pretty much negates your comment....

Nothing personal just asked a simple question.  Who is Brad Littlefield and why should I care.

Peeper,

Until you are willing to identify yourself and able to detail any evidence of anything that you have done to try to improve your community
or serve the residents, I see no reason to engage you in further discussion.

Judging from your posting history, I have developed a good sense of what you're about.

Back to the discussion about Andrew Cuomo, did Schenectady Mayor Stratton's request of Cuomo for help with issues pertaining to the Schenectady
Police Department get any attention or service?

I think the poster was implying that Bumble was a prominent "Gadfly" in Rotterdam political circles.  At least that's what my friends at the Senior Center say

Doesn't former poster Cal work at the Senior Center?

Brad you ask very good questions.  Usually the Feds mandate something, push it down the throats of the State and then it ends up costing us in local unfunded mandates.  They typically don't seize the power.  That seems to be changing with OB. We will still pay!  I also want to know what his plans are for streamlining government.  At this point, at least Paterson is doing what needs to be done.  He is not worrying about being elected, just running the state. Trimming still needs to happen in State government.

Spitzer made a great AG, but a lousy Governor and I don't mean because he cheated on his wife.  His personality wasn't suited to governing.  He was a great enforcer.  What's Andrew's personality??

Peepers that was an uncalled for attack on Brad. He should have been endorsed by a major party. The leadership in the Conservatives and Republicans missed out and so will the residents of this County.  Watch your County tax bill as Paterson makes more cuts.

Brad is dead on about cuomo. The liberal media appears to know exactly how to manipulate their readership/listenership when it comes to politics. (or anything else for that matter). The media is already setting cuomo up for the run. They are clearly putting out the litmus paper to see what effect, if any, these liberal reports has had on the people.

The AG position seems to be the spring board for the governorship. However, cuomo has failed on many important areas, such as the schenectady school scandal. And what about the help with the schenectady police dept.? Perhaps cuomo, like others before him, are beholden to the unions that run these entities.(and politicians) Voting for cuomo, if he chooses to run, will be voting in the status quo. I just hope we have a substantial, viable option.

He would have still lost.  I would like an answer to my question?  Who the hell is Brad Littlefield?  He is a nobody from podunk Delanson who "thinks" he is a "winner."  He lost a primary and general election by HUGE numbers and he "thinks" he is ready to fill in an assembly seat in Albany?  The Dems will be licking their chops if he is the "endorsed" candidate.  At least that's what my friends at the Sr Center tell me.

Brad is your website still up?  Put the link in here for Peepers.  If Peepers had attended the LWV forum, he/she would have heard you speak.  While I disagree with Brad and many of you on Metroplex, Brad's conservative values are much needed in this fiscal climate.

I don't know Brad that well, but from what I have observed he has energy and the courage of his convictions.  He is not going to tell you something to make you happy.  As far as the Assembly seat, who do the dems think is going to run this year on their ticket?

Given the fact that I believe in terms limits, Amedore should not run again on the Republican ticket.  It's time for a change.  I think Brad is ripe for what we need in the Assembly right now.  Somebody has to put the skids on all this stalemate BS and spending.

Gee Peeper, you're being pretty tough on a guy you claim is a nobody, yet you know what town he lives in.  You know he lost both the general election and primary, and you know what party line he ran under, and you claim all your Democrat friends from the senior center know Brad Littlefield.  So Peeper, is sounds like you and the people in the social circles you run in KNOW EXACTLY WHO THE HELL BRAD LITTLEFIELD IS.  You actually seem to be following him quite closely.  Why?

It's obvious you can't debate the issues with him, so you attempt to slander his character.  Good luck with that.
