ROTTERDAM
Board meeting starts with wedding
Couple exchange vows, hope they help foster civility

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

Every time Todd Koza and Cindy Dumar tried to plan a wedding, something always seemed to come up.
The first service they planned was about a year and a half into their relationship. Koza bought a ring and they were planning to wed on the island of Jamaica, and then Dumar’s young daughter Melanie fell sick with the chicken pox.
The couple put off their plans and instead decided to buy a house. And then the years started to pass.
“It was a back-and-forth thing,” Dumar said Wednesday of the plans for their nuptials.
Three homes, two rings and about 16 years later, they were still waiting for the perfect time to get married. Then Dumar took a job as a typist in the Rotterdam Town Clerk’s Office in May.
Dumar’s boss, longtime Town Clerk Eunice Esposito, was shocked to learn Koza hadn’t carried through with his plans to marry her and made it clear she wouldn’t let the subject drop. She resolved to see the couple married, even if she had to do it herself.
“She said, ‘People that get married by me stay together,’ ” Dumar recalled the clerk saying this fall.
Meanwhile, a particularly contentious election season left town residents divided among their political allegiances. Koza, a native of Rotterdam, felt the need to do something that would bring both sides together — in Town Hall and under friendly auspices.
That was all the reason Koza and Dumar needed to tie the knot just minutes before the last Town Board meeting this year. Koza figured the happy occasion would provide the outgoing and incoming administrations — as well as the town’s residents — a chance to let bygones be bygones.
“We wanted to lighten up the tension in our town,” he explained.
Sure enough, there was a degree of peace at Wednesday’s meeting, which was attended by four members of the new administration and four members of the outgoing board. Unlike several of the post-election meetings, there were no icy stares or pointed barbs traded between the two sides. ...........................>>>>..............................>>>>...............................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01300&AppName=1

I don't know if they spelled it that way, but congrats anyway to the newlyweds.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Hey does Diane Marco have anything better to do than follow FDG and friends around to town meetings?
Does she work? Does she have any hobbies? Does she have a man?
Maybe she needs a little of that great old song bumble quoted......
She seems to be that wannabe cheerleader in high school that just couldn't make
the squad....

Why the personal attack Mary?  Is it really your business if she works, has hobbies or a man?  Perhaps, she
is just an interested and concerned private citizen.

What's your beef with Diane Marco?  Your post makes you sound petty and bitter about something.  IMHO

Bitter cause perhaps Mary lost something in the last election?  I do think you hit the nail on the head BL.  Last I checked the Town Board meetings were open to the public and Ms Marco certainly knows her way around the town hall.  Please stop Mary, Jesus would frown on such behavior.

from my observation
mary's subject in question knows her way around town hall a little too well.
in normal business terminated* ex employees would not be let into private areas of a business or
be allowed to look thru stuff/docs in these areas
*terminated as in not re-elected

it is simple know your place
an invite behind the door is one thing but mind your business not the business of others

and Mr Koza is right on civility - Rotterdam screwed up years ago
when I-88 was installed, the town was too busy with petty BS
and not focused on leveraging the moment
today the same is happening with events in malta, all in town need to
come together and build off the opportunity or be left behind again
remember I-88 works for the city of schenectady and scotia/glenville also
why let the others and the county steal our resource?

housing is ok but it is only good for the moment..
a few good years of low taxes and then the increases

terminated? She chose not to run again. I always found her to be an individual who truly cares about the town but I understand why Mary is scared of her; if she chose to run again, she'll win---again.

care for what
she would tax a single senior the same price as a family of four

Ms Marco is a "specific duty" tax supporter

maybe she was asked not to run again

chose, asked  - know your place and mind your business

it is this behaviour that creates the inimicality in this town

I could give to Sh!ts who is related to, or friends, with what family in this town, not to mention what check box they check or lever thay pull.

When others can get over that this town will prosper.

this generational revenge kick this town is on is no different than tribal afghanistan except that we have the desire to live to 100
so instaed of killing our opponents we just kick them in the balls and round and round it goes on the grade school merry go round.

disagreement over process(taxes) is one thing but the stuff above up to specific duty is another

Lets all have a great weekend.... craft fair....brooks BBQ...Breakfast with Santa...and other stuff

maybe she was asked not to run again? LOL. She was/is a easy winner...
Hopefully she'll be "asked" or "chosen" or maybe even choose to run again.

I am not afraid of her. I really feel sorry for her, a middle-aged woman, losing her looks,
following around a married 70-year-old man.
