And please don't tell me you believe that the CP endorsement means anything in any other district besides Rotterdam. Register Conservatives outside of Rotterdam are anemic. CP leadership endorse candidates they believe will win. Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter to them.
I couldn't disagree with you more. Yes, there are far more Conservatives in Rotterdam than other towns. The line doesn't mean very much in the City but to say it doesn't matter in the other towns is nutz. I think if you take a look at the results a little more closely you'll see it. The CP line was the difference maker in most races. The CP line also has been the difference maker in the 4th Judicial races for several years in a row. Even in Duanesburg it was the difference maker in a town board seat and princetown it meant the difference. The CP was a major factor in sweeping out the DEMS in Glenville and they swept out the REPUBS in Scotia the year before. If you look at the County Legis races in districts 3 & 4, you'll see that it was the difference maker. To believe otherwise is foolish. |

The only place one could vote for Brian was on the NNTP line. Will there be a NNTP in 2010? Once Steverino lost the CONS line it was all over.
Gee, that's funny, how can you make that claim when the Republicans didn't have the CP endorsement when they took a super majority. You guys are overstating the influence of the CONS. The NNTP was the deciding factor in this election. The CONS, REPUBS, & DEMS need to humble themselves and admit the obvious. |

Since you are so intent to go back to the election prior, who were the Dem candidates? You keep saying super majority but for some reason you don't mention that Della Villa and Silva were both CP endorsed candidates that won. Do you think they thought they were endorsing a winner in Bill Cook? Give me a break. So the year you keep mentioning, the CP endorsed 2 out of the 3 winners. (One from each major party) They did not endorse Tommasone because of obvious reasons and went with someone they knew would not win. That somehow becomes a weakness in your eyes. That certainly is a strange way to look at it. You also don't give them credit for continuously increasing their membership and effectiveness. I think you should put down the Kool-Aid. JMHO. |

Hard to compare numbers when the CP candidate had another line for people to pull. Apples and Oranges...
Not true. With a party endorsement, you guarantee the candidate X amount of votes from your line. So when Conservative voters walked into the booth, they presumably pulled the lever for all Conservative Party endorsed candidates. That number is 617 votes for Delgallo for town supervisor. Unless you are saying that registered Conservatives flipped the Democrat lever, registering their vote as under the Democrat tally. But that makes no sense. The NNTP candidate was at the bottom of the machine, NNTP voters went into the voting booth and specifically flipped the lever for the NNTP candidate. 1493 of'em. That was done on a thin budget, with one lit drop, a couple of radio spots, and lawn signs. |

Who care who the Dem candidates were. Who were the Con candidates? Remember how the Cons vowed to take down Mertz and Tommasone that year? They didn't! They don't have the power or influence to do so. Frannie DelGallo would not have won if the NNTP didn't have a line on the ballot. Face it. Do you honestly think FDG is any stronger of a candidate that Cooke? The man hasn't voted in over 10 years! People need to stop believing that he Cons hold the self proclaimed power they say they have. The NNTP showed vision, leadership, articulated message, and organization and was able to motivate 1493 residents to vote the NNTP line without the help of a public union. |

Brain McGarry deserves the all credit-he is a Draper Grad and very popular. He worked hard every night at the doors-while others hid at home. The same can be said for Brad who ran very strong with no party support. The NNTP had separate signs and radio ads-what did the Rotterdam CONS have? Separate signs? Radio ads? The NNTP was a group of very popular, very capable candidates, who should have thrown over some stunad party hacks. Whether anything lasting comes of this remains to be seen. |

Sorry, but Mertz wasn't even a candidate that year. As I already mentioned, Silva and Della Villa were. Your short on facts and logic, IMHO. But, time will tell. |

I meant figuratively when I mention Mertz, just because this was the election after the formation of the police commission. The Conservative Party actively campaigned against Tommasone, with the "missing gun handles" joke, and claims of nepotism mailers. The Conservatives thought they are the ones that got Tommasone elected since they endorsed him in his initial run for supervisor, then they didn't endorse him during his re-election bid and he still won. Face it, the NNTP determined the outcome of this election in Rotterdam, NOT the conservative party. They just benefited from the formation of the NNTP. |

I disagree. I believe it was a combination of things, primarily having a better candidate than in previous years and a much better total slate, more funds available for campaigning, hard working individuals for a ground game, NNTP spliting the vote among other issues. Matt Martin was the top vote getter for towm board, you cannot attribute that to the NNTP. Residents wanted a change and The Dems and Cons gave them a good alternative at theright time. Not to mention the Repubs making a huge mistake with hitching their trailer to Lazzari in the final weeks. Many residents told me that turned them off to the Repubs also. It was an embarrassing route that many factors played into. |

What is going to be interesting is whether or not the Repubs will bring in some new blood and reshape the face of their party. They should reach out to the Cons and try to find common ground while moving forward. |

The con party is just an arm of the lib/dems. They clearly had no influence in the rotterdam election, like they would like to think, since we all know it was the NNTP that swung those votes. As far as the rest of the county, that is a major joke. How many candidates ran un-opposed? Getting the con line is just a second dem/lib line. Clearly NOT conservative values. Cause there is no such thing as a liberal conservative! |

The reps should reach out to the NNTP. THEY were and are the true conservatives. Why would the reps even want to reach out to a party that has endorsed only lib/dems? What the heck ideology does the cons represent these days? People are so fed up with all of the major parties, that polls show that people will vote for a third party candidate before any of the major ones. That speaks volumes. Perhaps it is the major parties that should be reaching out to the 'third party movement'. Perhaps? |

The CONS want nothing to do with these stunads. Maybe after the State GOP clean house something can be done. Not before. |

So tell us benny, who the hell do you support? You are hell bent on destroying the dems, cons and reps. You associate yourself with the strangest of bedfellows. You continue to be their water boy for spewing negativity, rhetoric, speculation and rumors at all political parties. Let's see you, and your 'strange bedfellows' jump in with both feet and take the lead and make it 'all better'. |
