SCHENECTADY Artists sought for biggest city event yet BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com.
Calling all artists: Schenectady needs you. The biggest art show ever presented in the city will open March 20, and organizer Don Rittner wants 1,000 artists to be there to show their work. He wants every downtown venue filled with art — and not just paintings and sculptures. He’s also gathering filmmakers, musicians and authors — anyone who has created anything in the Capital Region. “We’ll have poets walking down the street doing poetry. The library will be full of local authors. It’s going to be something nobody’s ever seen before,” Rittner said. The show, “Schenectady Art Attack,” will be on March 20 and 21. It will be free to everyone, including the artists, who will not have to pay a fee to be included. Rittner wants to make it clear to even the casual observer that the Capital Region is full of artists. Even though the famous Yaddo retreat in Saratoga Springs has hosted some of the best-known artists in the country and there is so much local interest in art that every city in the region can offer a monthly Art Night, the Capital Region isn’t known for its artistic residents. .......................>>>>...............................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01301&AppName=1
A friend of mine does high end custom wood working and travels around the northeast to sell his goods. He does very well. A short while ago, I guess there was an art thing at Proctors and my friend went with is goods. He said he did very well.
