I was at a Stewarts shop in town on my way home from work tonight. I overheard some folks talking about the election. They were saying that now with the dems in, perhaps they can move their dss building to altamont ave that is wide enough for a hot dog stand andon the bus line. They also suggested a bethesda house on curry road so the residents can piss on the sidewalks like they do in the city. They also thought that perhaps there should be more non profits brought into town like the city. They also thought that rotterdam could increase it's population with the pimps, whores and drug dealers/addicts like in the city. They thought that since this is the same political party as the city and the county leg, thant perhaps they can share the love with the rest of us suburbanites. They were curious to know if they were thinking of converting Hamburg Street into the arts and drunks section of town.

I thought this was just too amusing.

My friends at the Sr Center said that Steve Tommasone, Joe Signore, Joe Suhrada, Lynn Fiorillo or Mike O'Connor never went over to Mallozzi's to congratulate any of the Democrats.  I guess they still haven't learned the meaning of respect. DISPICABLE!

And you people still have the gall to pat them on the back?  Poor losers never make good leaders.  The people obviously made the right decision overwhelmingly.

Good friends can make poor leaders too-----why do you think the he has/she has about the reval was
such a big ordeal.........although in the land of gumba gangstas nothing will change

You should have the inside scoop on that one John.  I can see you selling your soul.  Just not sure why Brian McGarry would.

That's ironic, I heard the EXACT same thing from another person "in town" today - same verbage and everything, and AFAIK, they weren't in Stewart's.

Did I talk to you earlier today on the phone?

I know nothing about the plans for those locations... but AFAIK, and I had this discussion with someone else Monday, those properties are all private property.  While they may be an eye-sore, they're privately owned.  The town has little recourse except to enforce zoning, fine for violations and take by eminent domain (or for unpaid taxes/fines).  I personally don't think they've done any of those yet. No "administration", republican or democrat can change the laws, but one might have a bit more negotiating power and ability to convince the property owners to clean up and get out, we'll see after 1/1/10.

4 corners looks like hell - fence is falling down, building is attracting animals/mice, garbage collecting all around it and just looks like hell.  But, blame the property owner (who wanted to put a CVS there without having realistic discussions with surrounding, also needed, property owners to complete their plans.)

Grand Union - hell, we've heard everything from an RV dealer, Bingo parlor, market, etc going in there. Last I heard, someone in the HighBridge area bought the property for investment - it still sits vacant and decaying, but again - still private property, and probably not against any "code"

Capital Plaza - I won't even get into what Musiker did to those tenants on a "handshake" deal with a new developer, which, obviously never transpired. As I understand it, he got screwed cause he thought he was gonna make a fortune on a handshake, then proceeded to screw his tenants by evicting them and not, from what I heard, paying everyone the value of their leases as agreed. Last I heard there was still at least one court case pending on that. There MAY be code violations with this property, not sure on that one.

Don't forget, (the former) Edgewood Restaurant, another property that's decaying sitting vacant. Also, the old Wingate/Rotterdam Library on Guilderland Ave., vacant. Draper School - wow, can't even begin to think of the code issues there.  I'm sure there's others too, but you get the idea.

It would be so much easier if Rotterdam annexed the property. Take that section of Broadway. Hell, take all of Broadway. That way you'd get the NIMO taxes to pay for it.
Take Hamilton Hill please.
Mont Pleasant would be a pleasant connector. Take that too.

That way you wouldn't have to build new stuff. I'd be more than happy to give you all of it.

Sure Rotterdam could expand and include all of that in their boundaries.  Why not take Woodlawn too. My cleaning lady had to move out of there because her street was plagued by motorcycle folks and her grandchild was almost run down.  She moved because she didn't like the folks who were moving in from the City.  Rotterdam could annex lots of these areas.  We could have a whole new tax base and electorate.
GREAT!

ROTFLMAO!! Were you talking to yourself? You wanted Change?

Love the hot dog stand reference. This was the one job Metrograft and the Obama "stimulus" created in the City-now you want to move it over here?
