Way to be gracious in victory!

Tonight the people spoke! Congrats to the winners! The Rotterdam Democrats!!! The Republicans were trounced and the NNTP was trounced even worse. Maybe it is time a fourth, or fifth party now too, or at least enough to make sure every particular issue is covered. The NNTP have a fresh start to build their party and I am sure they will have the same stamina and longevity that the Republicans had while they were in business. However- The apparent message is that the Democrat platform is what Rotterdamians want and I understand and respect that. The people voted for change they can believe in, and that is to be respected. The change they voted for last year in Washington is the same change they asked for tonight and there is a hope in the electorate that those sorts of policies will prevail here in town. I admire that optimism and want success for my town!

Democracy is a wonderful thing, and we all abide by it. God Bless!

I ran into some NNTP people Sunday and they didn't know who he was, they were just mad at both parties, so I think that the Republican-conservative brand is the first one to fold in Rotterdam. But like I said, I think you will like the new government you asked for, they seem very intent on change all through out the town, so I will wish them well, myself. The people didn't want the Republicans and they sure didn't want the NNTP. Maybe we will have more minor parties in the future which will give us better options to choose from. Time will tell. I honestly will be cheering for the New Team because I support my town and their choice. Fair is fair.

lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink......I think there is more of a

"I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night"  Yeah Puddy and I just got back.

You can't denigrate people the way ST/ and the Tom and Gerry show did, call people Nazi's in a public forum and think that the public will follow you.  The result is GAME OVER!

Humility or humbleness is a quality of being courteously respectful of others. It is the opposite of aggressiveness, arrogance, boastfulness, and vanity. Rather than, "Me first," humility allows us to say, "No, you first, my friend." Humility is the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the needs and demands of others.

As usual MT you focus on the WRONG thing.  If your team had gotten in it scares me to think what this board would like like.  Go back and read your own post and then apply it to yourself!

Those guys got brought down for lots of reasons.  Steve was lousy at his job.  End of story.  However, with the type of friends he has in Tom and Gerry and Surprise he was doomed.  As for Suhrada--well it may be time for him to take a break and regroup a bit and then come back.  Because even though I can never imagine finding real common ground with his headset, he sometimes, I repeat sometimes, could get around both sides of an issue.

Puddy, Sal, Benny and I said we thought this would be a Democratic sweep and it was.  It's our time now.  So back off.  And before I forget --yeah I may be a troll who baits you into discussion but NO worse a troll than you and BT and "Rush" Zollinger.  I am new at the blog routine.  So that just makes me a "junior" baiter--you fools fall into the "master" category.  See ya around--oh I forgot you live out of town.

Again Deb ... you're wrong.  It's not about "my team" or "your team" - it's about what's right for the people.

You're right about that.  That is precisely why I am so distressed about Brad Littlefield--he was a great candidate and save for Mertz, that whole team were good candidates.  I hope they all come back and try again.  We also lost because I think Joe Lazzari would have been an ideal Sheriff.  And like Suhrada, I hope they too will come back and try again.  Although JS thinks I hate him, I never have.  I just can't get around his politics.  Give the new group a chance--

"The people have spoken, the bastards." Senator Muskie {Maine}

The voters have spoken loudly and clearly. A complete repudiation of the County REPS. The decision to throw out white flags {run nobody for DA/County Leg/City Council} and bunker down in Rotterdam was suicidal.

The REP idiotic cartoons were a new low. Talk about backfiring. Congrats to Fran and the whole DEM team. They ran as a team and stayed on message. If the REPS had run Joe Suhrada and Brad for County they would have picked up a County seat and stopped the NNTP. No one can work with these "leaders". 3 REP seats out of 15 on the County Legislature? Sickening. Resignations must be forthcoming.

I must disagree-----this is not a 'new group'......this is Poedunk Rotterdam and the folks here need to
understand that the 'feel' for the 'feel good' cost$$$ too........it's not if P then Q......just an
ooooey-goooooey feel........looters come in all shapes, sizes and both major parties......it's just
too bad that tradition got the better of the voters.....Pavlov's dog at work here.......with a little help
from the gumba gangstas.....

Senders--NNTP didn't have time to really launch.  Time was against them.  As for the Dem sweep...my feeling it is still better than two more years of Reps in Rotterdam.  Who are these gumba gansters you guys keep referring to?

The way I see it, the people who voted for the dems or the NNTP were obviously not voting for the reps. Perhaps in part, some were not happy with the present rep administration. Perhaps people didn't want the reps or dems.

In either case, the reps have a lot of re-thinking, re-grouping and re-organizing if they expect to win any future elections.
