Youth abduction attempt second cited in two weeks

BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter

City police Tuesday were investigating a reported abduction attempt, the second such in two weeks.
Descriptions of the suspects and their vehicles, police said, suggest the cases are unrelated.
Tuesday night’s incident happened just before 7 p.m. on Patrick Court in Woodlawn. An 11-year-old boy was skateboarding when a man in a car approached, police spokesman Sgt. Luciano Savoia said.
The man asked the boy if he’d seen his dog, then asked the boy to get in the car to help look, Savoia said. The boy ran back to his house. His parents called police.
“He did the right thing,” Savoia said. “He obviously didn’t recognize the man and he immediately took off and ran back to his house.”
The driver was described as a white male in his mid- to early 40s. He was balding, with hair on the sides. His vehicle was described as a four-door red car with tinted windows.
Officers continued to investigate Tuesday evening. The boy was being interviewed.
Last month’s attempted abduction happened Sept. 24 on Craig Street. Police said a 12-year-old girl reported a man tried to lure her into a car as she walked to Mont Pleasant Middle School near the Interstate 890 bridge. ...............>>>>..................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01104&AppName=1

They live among us, forgot to take their meds and are planning their public apologies as did Spitzer, Clinton, Edwards, Letterman

oooohhhh, the heroes of our time.....aren't we just so freaking happy about it....... >

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Police seek man in abduction try
Authorities repeat common safety advice for children

BY KATHLEEN MOORE AND STEVEN COOK
Gazette Reporter

Police are gathering a list of every red Ford Taurus in the Capital Region and creating a composite drawing to find the man who attempted to abduct a boy in Schenectady on Tuesday.
Police also responded by urging children to stay with a buddy at all times. This week’s reported attempt was the second in the city in the past few weeks. Police do not believe they are related.
“Stay away from cars. Don’t be tricked into getting into a stranger’s car,” police spokesman Sgt. Eric Clifford said. “Make a plan: Let someone know where you’re going and when you will get there.”
Clifford also told parents not to leave their children unattended, even for a minute.
Sgt. Luciano Savoia said police have interviewed the 11-year-old boy who reported the attempted abduction Tuesday. His story is clear and believable, Savoia said.
According to police accounts, the boy, who lives on Patrick Court, said he was playing near his house when a stranger drove up at 6:51 p.m.
The man was in a “brick red” four-door car with tinted windows. He rolled a window halfway down and asked the boy if he’d seen a puppy.
    The boy said no.
The man asked him to get in the car and help search for the puppy. Instead, the boy ran.
“He did exactly the right thing,” Savoia said. “If you’re frightened, run and tell your parents or go to a neighbor’s house.”
The boy was able to give such a detailed description of the car that police think it was a Taurus. He also described the man as white with balding hair, in his late 30s or early 40s. State police are turning his description into a composite drawing to aid in the search, Savoia said.....................>>>>...................>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....1&Continuation=1
