I have to pay an extra $30 to distinguish myself from non-citizens? I always hear the argument that immigration is a federal issue, and that states are not equip to handle this problem. So what does NY do, we accommodate illegals by issuing them drivers licenses, while those of us who are legal have to pay an extra $30 to prove we are legal. Shouldn't those who CAN'T prove they are citizens pay the $30 extra for a NON-CITIZEN DRIVERS LICENSE? What's up is down and down is up.
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to provide ID and Licenses to ONLY legal citizens??

The enhanced license is basically only necessary if you fly or Federal transactions. Most of you will do fine with your regular licenses .

Yeah 10 or 15 years ago the standard state drivers license was sufficient to cross the Canadian or Mexican borders. Now with all the illegals that we allow to use these state identifications, they are no longer accepted as valid forms of ID. So now they come up with this "enhanced" identification for $30 more that legal citizens have to pay for.

the ONLY way to prove someone is 'illegal' is make sure those that are legal can prove it.......sound like the not so distant past to anyone?????
it's always the weight of the person's ability to prove themselves 'legal' to drive via tests, or legal drink via age, or legal to have a credit card via income/age etc etc.......
the system only exists when those who want the system agree to put their 'pawns' in it and follow the rules........
