Editorial: ReStoring and recycling in Sch'dy Wednesday, September 16, 2009
By now nearly everyone has heard of Habitat for Humanity, the non-profit volunteer organization that builds and rehabs houses for the poor — and many have donated to it and/or worked with it. Fewer have heard of ReStore, a Habitat affiliate that raises money for Habitat projects by selling donated building supplies and household goods. Schenectady’s ReStore is celebrating its second anniversary this week; and like Habitat itself in Schenectady, it is going strong. Its building, in the old Reale’s photo store on Foster Avenue, is filled with donated items such as doors, windows, stoves, sinks, toilets, washers and dryers, as well as furniture and cabinets. Some are new, some used, but all are sold to the general public at a steep discount, between 50 percent and 90 percent. ReStore has its own truck and picks up donations from individuals and businesses free; it also delivers locally for $25 and $50 outside Schenectady. ReStore sales have already brought in around $72,000, more than enough to build one home. In its two years of existence, it has also kept nearly 100 tons of bulk materials out of landfills. So it not only helps the poor by offering recycled goods and supplies at an affordable price, and by raising money to build affordable homes for them, it helps the environment..................>>>>..................>>>>............http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/sep/16/0916_edit1/

The problem I have with ReStore is they are the most arrogant, bitchiest people I've ever run into.
