The Gazetto fumbled the ball on this-as usual. Somebody sent Mr. Strock the Facebook photos and he smelled a story and then nothing. They let the TU publish them and receive tens of thousands of hits for their free website. Mr. Strock is back to his usual left wing garbage attacking patriots against neo-Marxist Obamacare. The SPD have all the pictures. Maxine Brisport received all the pictures via e-mail. Maxine really needs to show some leadership. Get out of Jiffy Jeffy's bushel basket. Show leadership and pull the trigger. NOW! If they refuse to resign arrest them. Stop dragging it out-this not going away. There is real outrage in the community with the irresponsible School Bored but not one of them takes the lead and demands their immediate ouster. Including the daughter who teaches at Mt Pleasant-former home of The Mad Bomber. We came to party-while we bankrupt the sheeple City taxpayers. There must be something in the water. |

Sch’dy school board needs major overhaul
The recent Schenectady school board meeting exhibited a few positive moments, but quickly deteriorated into the same old disrespectful, bullying aspects of the Janiszewski era. New President Maxine Brisport tried her best to respectfully address the attendees with a prepared letter and apology in relation to the replacement appointee to the school board. Unfortunately, this school board is in such total disarray that the meeting soon took on the negative tone. Comments by a school board member who creates animosity with every comment he directs at the citizens, a few board members who appear to be too afraid to go against the bullying actions of the past president, and a superintendent who does not possess leadership abilities all contribute to the problems this board has in relating to the public. Thankfully, we have the May school board election to look forward to. Schenectady residents will have plenty of hard work to do in seeking out, standing up, and voting in positive, respectful and competent school board members. We must all take the responsibility to make this happen, and now is the time to begin taking action. Thankfully, the district has extremely competent building-level administrators and teachers. Otherwise, the students’ education would be deteriorating as well.

Does that include principals, other school bored members and the many administrators present? Should have been typed up Monday morning. They refuse to resign. They await the State Education Department investigation to further humiliate this disgraced district. For once ACT-FIRE someone. They didn't fire a terrorist so what's the big deal here? The cartoon should have had Maxine Brisport doing her usual Sgt Schulz impression. |

A lesson in common sense?
First published in print: Friday, September 4, 2009
What might as well be the last days of summer, with school starting again next week, is full of lessons. This time, they're for the parents most of all.
Yes, the grown-ups. All of them, too.
Not many people with children in the Capital Region's various school systems are as visible as James Casino and his wife, Donna Casino, surely. He's on the school board in Schenectady. She's a teacher at one of the city's elementary schools. And now they've attracted the attention of law enforcement officials for allegedly drinking alcohol with, yes, teenagers at parties, including one in June to celebrate their son's graduation from Schenectady High.
Really, now, this just isn't the time for the old saw of an argument that kids will drink anyway, especially on occasions like graduations, so parents might as well join in and supervise it. Or that parents can impart a valuable lesson to their kids about the responsible consumption of alcohol.
Photos of the Casino family party, first posted on Facebook and published Tuesday in the Times Union, allegedly show Mr. Casino and Mrs. Casino engaged in entirely juvenile drinking antics, apparently witnessed by people who appear to be young enough to be quite impressionable and not yet old enough to legally consume alcohol.
Why would they do this, if indeed they did? And why, oh why, would Mrs. Casino allow the photos to be posted on a Facebook page she maintains with another son, if indeed she did?.......................>>>>................>>>>.....................>>>>.............................http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=838277&category=OPINION

Common sense is in short supply. Especially with Schenectady voters and in the Casino household. You would think Pa Dukes Casino would take one for the family? No he wants to pull everyone down because of his stupidity. Keep listening to Jiffy Jeffy...When the State comes knocking open up... |

Three weeks later. The Casino's are still laughing in their beers. No one resigns-no one knows from nuthin-no problemo? James Casino is still "serving" the people. He may have a distant cousin not yet on the payroll. Only at Schenectady Schools. What's the latest on the DA/SPD/State Education investigations into underaged drinking at the Casino's kegger? lol. Where is the moral authority in the City? What has Mayor Stratton got to say? |

Mayor Stratton made a comment! Not about the kegger, not about the gang riot after the Albany game, not about slamming Linda Bellick back in. He is concerned that other nit wit School Bored members will never get re-elected. A "leader" in true Schenectady style. His only concern is that other incumbents are not re-elected? Sickening. |

This is so schenectady. And so the gazette. We read a blast of news in the gazette, supplied with websites and pictures and then....just chirping of birds...and that's if you're lucky.
Are the people who live in the city of schenectady THAT stupid? Or is it that they are illiterate and can't read? Or are they in line at the dss building daily? Or that they just don't give a damn?
It is quite amusing....if this happened, oh let's say at shen or ghs, do you honestly think these people would still have jobs? It was GHS that got constantino out! The residents would be out with pitchforks. Only in schenectady. Sorry folks, but they get what they deserve!
Remember.....government is just a reflection of it's people. And that goes for school boards too!

The people who live in schenectady are not that stupid.. they don't care.. Heck our influx of those from NYC on the streets around me, they look at it as a suburban paradise from talking. I'm staring at the guys slinging stuff and cleaning my guns while they let their pre-teens play all alone on the streets. Government is definitely a re-election of the people, if the people don't care, why should the government? |

I heard the exact same thing! They look at the city as suburbia and the surrounding counties like farm land. A few told me that they wish there was more public transportation. Most don't own cars and relied on public transportation for travel in NYC. |
