Photos available on the popular Web site Facebook show Schenectady school board member James R. Casino and his wife, Donna, a teacher, participating in two drinking parties this summer in honor of their son Jimmy, who graduated from Schenectady High School in June.
Unless he was held back 3+ years, he's underage, period. There's nothing "possible" about it. That's him in the pictures.
Right MT. That's him and his wife in the Facebook pictures. They host an wild underage drinking party and have the nerve to put it up on Facebook? No shame. Resign in disgrace-get out! Had enough-YET?
Carl alleges that Jiffy Jeffy's son was also id. Was Jiffy Jeffy also present? This could be the best thing to happen in Schenectady in a long, long time. Fire the wife-TODAY! Arrest them both for hosting an illegal underage drinking party. It doesn't get any better than this.

I don't know any of those people in the pictures. I don't know if the people in the pictures that appear to be consuming alcohol are high school graduates or older of legal drinking age siblings or cousins that were invited to the party. I'm old, I couldn't tell the difference between an 18 year old high school grad or a 21 year old college junior.
You may have more facts about the situation than I do. I'm gonna stick with "possible" or "alleged". I won't be so quick to join your witch hunt.
I'm not a big supporter of the minimum drinking age. So I pose this question - What if the young adults in the photos were 20 year old soldiers on leave from combat in Iraq or Afghanistan? Would the outrage still be there?
These are not combat vets in Iraq. The nerve, the brass, of the Casino's to host a underage drinking party and then put pictures up on Facebook! A teacher and member of the Schenectady School Bored? Great examples!
Some of us remember when being on the School Board meant higher ethical standards. Thank you Admin for posting this pictures before they were removed on Facebook. There is no bottom to this horrid group.
Last year a Duanesburg mom hosted a drinking party and was fully prosecuted. We expect the same treatment here. The Casino's must be removed from the payroll and board. Immediately. This should be the last straw for the overtaxed City sheeple. See you at the next Bored meeting-Oneida MS-Wednesday 9/2.

I never said they WERE vets from Iraq. The question was hypothetical. IF they were combat vets under the age of 21, would you be outraged?
Why are you outraged? Is it the underaged drinking, the fact that it was a school board member hosting it, or because it is a SHS school board member.
Personally, I would probably buy a beer for a 20 year old soldier that risked his/her life in the theater of operation for their country.
If it was all legal and on the up and up.....I would be questioning 'why' they took the pics down after strock's article this morning. The things been on facebook for how long now? And suddenly...poof....they disappear. Just a thought.
And MT has a point....it states that they were celebrating their son's graduation. He graduated 2 months ago. You do the math.
Allegations? Possible? Perhaps.

I had a baptism for my son when he was one years old, there were alcoholic beverages served. Do you assume that I was serving alcohol to one year old babies?
The point I was making was, the pictures may have been from the high school graduation party, but the people that were shown drinking may have been invited guest's of legal drinking age. Being that I don't know anybody in those pictures.
The ages of the guest's at that party could range from an 18 month grand baby, to an 80 year old grandmother. Just because it's a "graduation party" doesn't mean alcohol cannot be served responsibly to those of legal age.
Did Strock pass this information along to the police before running the story? He didn't even bother to verify the ages of those in the pictures, besides the son, who had legal permission to drink from the parent. And maybe the parents of the others were in attendance and gave their kids permission to drink. The more I read this, the more slimy it seems. Shoot first ask questions later reporting by the Gazette. Another shameless attempt to sell papers.
Stop backpedaling. You have the same sick reaction as everyone else, admit it.

A parent that gives "consent" to an illegal (by law) activity is responsible for the actions of that minor - and should be prosecuted.
Actually your statement makes about as much sense as giving your permission for your son/daughter to rob a store or murder someone. You can't "give permission" for an illegal activity.
Casino photos vaporized By Carl Strock Sunday, August 30, 2009
In case you read my column today (Sunday, Aug. 30) and went looking for the photos I wrote about, well, you might have been too late. When I checked Facebook a few minutes after 7 a.m. they were already gone. These were the photos of Schenectady school board member Jim Casino and his wife, Donna, an elementary school teacher, cavorting at two drinking parties were their high-school graduating son Jimmy and other young people, a few of whom were identifiable as June high school graduates. Son Robert's photo album was still there, but all the drinking photos had been deleted. Mother Donna's album was gone. So I guess maybe they weren't as proud of those pictures as they must have been when they first posted them on July 4 and Aug. 21. I of course took the precaution of downloading them to my own computer before I wrote the column, lest anyone accuse me of hallucinating them.

To tell you the truth, my initial reaction was that I attended some high school graduation parties when I graduated high school where alcohol was served. Has anybody else? I wasn't outraged, it was fairly common.

Was it with one of your school board members or teacher and their kid? Just a question.
