California Father Arrested for Allegedly Torturing 2 Baby Girls

Authorities say a father has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder and torture after his two baby girls were found bound, gagged and left on a bedroom floor in Riverside County. Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Brown says deputies responded to the home in the Indian Hills area Friday on a report of a family disturbance.
Brown says the infants, ages 1 1/2 and 18 weeks, also had visible injuries on their faces and heads.
Their father, 23-year-old Jeremiah Scott, had fled before deputies arrived, but was later found in the neighborhood and arrested.
Brown says the babies' injuries did not appear to be life threatening and they were transported to a hospital for treatment.

This baby girl survived three days with a bullet in her chest as she lay alone beside the dead bodies of her parents and toddler brother in Argentina, the Daily Mail reported.
Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, shot their 7-month-old daughter and son, 2, before killing themselves. The pair allegedly agreed to a suicide pact over fears about global warming, according to the Daily Mail.
The couple's son, Francisco, died instantly after being shot in the back, the paper reported.
The baby girl, whose name has not been released, escaped the apparent murder attempt after a bullet from her dad's handgun missed her vital organs, according to The Daily Mail.
Worried neighbors alerted police three days later, after discovering the massacre. Paramedics then rushed the blood-soaked baby to a hospital.
The miraculous survivor is now recovering in a hospital in the town of Goya in northern Argentina and is out of danger, according to the paper.
Police discovered an apparent suicide note by the girl's parents in which they outlined their fears over global warming.

A good night for Laura Cummings meant being allowed to sleep on the kitchen floor in her family’s North Collins home.
Usually in the weeks leading up to her death, she was forced to sleep shackled to a metal chair with a sack over her face.
Days were even more nightmarish for the 23-year-old mentally disabled woman, who was held captive and brutalized, allegedly by her own mother and half brother, according to an Erie County Grand Jury indictment returned Friday.
Cummings’ short life ended Jan. 21 with a long, tortuous death and a trail of missed chances to get her to safety.
A grand jury indicted Cummings’ mother, Eva M. Cummings, 51, and her half brother, Luke J. Wright, 31, on charges related to the homicide, but authorities continued to be confounded by the apparent lack of community concern for the defenseless woman’s welfare.

Their mouths were muzzled and wrapped in so much tape they couldn't breathe, bark or eat. Their fur was matted with filth and the house was crammed with so much trash, it hid the floor.
A Long Island mother and daughter were arrested yesterday after more than a dozen tortured dogs and cats were rescued from a filth-riddled Rockville Centre home that included more than two dozen decomposing animal remains, cops said.
Judge Anna Anzalone teared up as prosecutors showed pictures of a dog skull with tape still visible on it, as well as the squalor in the small house.
Faith Ross, 54, a secretary, and Francesca Maselli, 24, a nursing-home aide, pleaded not guilty and were being held at the Nassau County Jail on more than $75,000 bail each on three felony animal-cruelty counts.
Hempstead town officials were tipped to the wretched conditions inside the seemingly sedate Montauk Avenue home when someone complained about the smell coming from the house.
When officials arrived, the dogs could be heard barking and there was a smell of gas, so Animal Control as well as National Grid were called in.
Inside, authorities said, they found a nightmare: 15 dehydrated, trembling animals covered in urine and feces, amid two feet of trash on every piece of flooring, and the rotting corpses of dozens more.
There were six Chihuahuas, three dachshunds, an English bulldog, a Yorkshire terrier, a Shih Tzu, a boxer and two cats among the survivors. Another pooch, a collie mix, was taken directly to an animal hospital for emergency care.
They also took several pounds of matted, dirt-encrusted fur from around the home. A new car in the driveway was packed with trash, grocery bags and cans of dog food.
I cant even begin to imagine how people can treat a child or an animal that way. When I read this last article, I went and hugged my pets and my kid. I cant fathom it. I just cant.
I adopted my pooch from a shelter about an hour from here. When I heard her story, I cried. I had to bring her home. She was in a puppy mill. She was the one having the puppies. Shes a small dog of about 50lbs and was having puppies from a Rottie nearly twice her size. When the shelter found out and rescued her, she had one pup left with her. The mill was selling the dogs as pure breds, if you can imagine that. Shes a Kelpie, so she does have similar markings. My kitty was adopted from a shelter after her elderly "parents" passed away. I couldnt ask for better fur babies. My daughter loves them and cares for them.
