I think the term redneck refers to people who don't adhere to Metropolitan political correctness.  You know the Metropolitan's I'm talking about, like those snobs at Starbucks you will see in Seattle.(As you step over the heroin addicts and bums walking in the Starbucks front door.)

redneck is the opposite of an urbanite who would crap their pants if they had to actually kill, clean, cut up and cook their own food....
