My Blue Shield Contract was just renewed last month. I received my health care coverage guide in the mail. Here is a list of their Case Management Programs:
General Case Mgt
Transplant Case Mgt
Chronic Kidney Disease Mgt
Rare Conditions Case Mgt
Right Start Pregnancy Mgt
Heart Case Mgt
Diabetes Case Mgt
Depression Case Mgt
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Case Mgt
And lastly - Support Blue Case Management Program (End of Life)

This is what it says about End Of Life:
"Our Support Bllue Case Mgt Program is designed to assist members diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. The program's objective is to implement an interdisciplinary approach to comprehensive physical and emotional care. As the disease progresses, the case manager provides education to allow the member and family to actively participate in the decision making process. Quality of life, support of the family, and an agreed upon treatment plan is the program's primary goal."

My first thought is, do our private insurance companies really need to have all of these case management programs?
My second thought, is this on the same "end of life"  idea as the proposed national health insurance?

It sounds like the insurance companies are starting to get ready for the new health-care plan.

Insurance premiums started to rise when they started with all of these stupid, so called, case management programs. HMO's PPO's.......it's all nonsense!

Why the hell does a patient need a case manager? Health care is managed between their doctor and themselves. I am not in favor of obamacare AT ALL...But something has to be done about these private insurance companies. They need to downsize and just get back to basics. Cause if they don't...they will have put a nail in their own coffin and health care will be government provided...ONLY!!

Thank God all good capitalist Americans only want specialists......we reap what we sow....and we have sown-------:

-ask your doctor about this drug that drug
-ask your doctor about depression
-ask your doctor about heart disease
-ask your doctor about birth control
-ask your lawyer if you have a case
-ask your lawyer if you will be compensated
-ask your lawyer if you qualify

etc etc......

healthcare and health insurance are apples and oranges.......

Do we really think this will change with National healthcare?----nah,,,,we just wont be able to sue the government.....

we all think we should feel better than we do, every day we get older.....it's a fact of life.....

medical care is not healthcare.....

medical care is a bandaid for the healthcare we choose and the health/illness that comes our way.....is it important---sure
but a person's will to live and live responsibly and fully is their choice......

Unless your 30 something with a family, driving a car, who does live responsibly, gets slammed by another car and ends up dead or disabled for the rest of their lives.

Senders touches on something about suing. There will be no higher authority to appeal to when they tell you "Just take more pain pills and forget the operation since you are not worth keeping."

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

that is why it is NOT healthcare,,,,but health insurance........healthcare is personal responsibility
health insurance is for the oops, uh-ohs, and everything else that falls in the middle.....

here is a question....if 4 folks go hiking, as is their usual for exercise and they are 'healthy'....something happens and
they get hurt and hurt bad.....did they have insurance for this? and right now if they did not, they would still get
treated.....

now for the person who is afflicted with asthma, obviously not by choice they need to gear their life
toward their affliction...ie: get a job with health insurance etc.....now if they dont do their homework and plan what happens

as for the poor homeless dude of a previous conversation....he doesn't even know how to connect the dots and cant keep
his socks pulled up, he doesn't understand the system or any system for that matter and probably never will.....

pay attention to the drug companies, unions, walmart and the likes of GE in this conversation......

if everyone stopped paying their insurance premiums, and I mean ALL kinds of insurance premiums,,,,
we can reset the system......we dont need Robin Hood.......we are Americans......

as for the disabled person--it's terrible and one does not have to be rich/poor/underserved or whatever to be in such
a situation....

however, the likes of Michael Jackson, Larry Flint, Paris Hilton, Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Christopher Reeves, O'Reilly   etc....
WILL ALWAYS GET WHAT THEY WANT.....THEY WILL PAY CASH.......and there will be folks who will take it....UNLESS.....
IT BECOMES ILLEGAL----SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.....

EXACTLY! But if this universal INSURANCE takes hold, we WILL be told how to live without risks. And if we don't....NO COVERAGE!

Oh, I'm agreeing with you....and right now our insurance companies 'tell us' what/when/who to do......there are %'s
that are followed before certain treatments/sugeries are performed ie:bypass, and the likes......and we cant just
switch insurers....and the drug companies have contracts with insurers as to what dose/brand/delivery of drugs are covered under the insurance plan---how do I know this---formulary changes/preauthorizations etc......as for the government being any better---what a crock......Just look at walmart and their $4.00 list.....how do they do it you ask? and they want to
have 'clinics' inside their stores....what made them want to do that or even think of it and why do they support national
healthcare.....incestuous if you ask me......

it's about power, control, and vote purchase......look at the numbers of folks that the government wants to 'fight for'...
it just doesn't ring true.....

I think Carl Strock is wrong when he said that the 'conservatives' have no compassion....
I am a nurse and I certainly dont like working for the insurance companies and the government will just make me
obtunded in my job....as an employee--I know my health insurance is part of my pay package---so get the hell
out of my pocket and go get a job......

the if P then Q doesn't fit.....the government has to have better numbers and Americans need to take care of them
selves...even if you are an immigrant....your pride is in your work not in your heritage or privilege......

living without risks...ha ha ha ha ha.....surely Mr. Santabarbara thinks this can be accomplished via the plastic ban issue

this will 'control' and cost industry millions.....CAP AND TRADE THEN NATIONAL HEALTHCARE........
