Is former Union College prez entering political realm?

Schenectady County Republican Elections Commissioner Art Brassard confirmed today that former Union College president Roger Hull has called his office a couple of times inquiring about how one would file petitions to start an independent party and run candidates under such a party.

Brassard most recently answered such questions on the phone with Hull a few weeks ago. Such filings can begin Aug. 11. and end Aug. 18.

Hull left Union in 2005 after a 15-year run, praised by community leaders for investing in property on neighboring Seward Place and taking over a former Ramada Inn to be used as a dormitory. He has since stayed in Schenectady.

There appears little motivation for anyone to challenge the establishment this election year, as there’s no mayoral race and the biggest controversies are in the school district, not city government. Still, there are three City Council seats up, all Democratic incumbents and no opponents.

Hull hasn’t returned calls for comment.

Brassard said there’s been other interest in starting independent parties. Some Rotterdam candidates shunned from the Republican party have publically said they’ll also run under something called the No New Tax Party. And Brassard said some calls have come in from Glenville about starting an independent party.

“The level of interest is unique,” Brassard said.

You assume he is forming an independent party with principles you endorse. What if he has a different agenda? Is he still a liberty lover? lol

thius guy is a rich white right wingger and is a repub  _  NO GOOD he wants to hurt the city like all the repubs do.

The politics in Schenectady and Rotterdam and NYS are so incestuous someone needs to stop the in-breeding......

BOTH major parties are tied up with the financials/economics.....they just pit the 'rich' against the 'poor'......people have what they
have because they have what they have....

municipalities/governments ARE the ones that redline.....make no mistake about it.....

divide and conquer and no one will ever know the skimmers and the gangsta gumbas......
