Renovation set for theaters in Rotterdam mall ROTTERDAM — The movie theaters at the Rotterdam Square mall will be getting an overhaul in the coming months, now that a new company has begun leasing the space. Zurich Cinemas, a Syracuse-area company that operates theaters at 11 locations in New York, signed a long-term agreement with the mall. Company owner Conrad Zurich would not discuss the terms of the deal, but said his company has plans to update many features in the six-screen theater, which encompasses about 20,000 square feet at the mall. “It’s a lease that came available,” he said Monday. “We thought that we could upgrade the facility and make it better for potential customers.” Starting in mid-August, the company will begin installing stadiumstyle seating, a digital 3-D screen and audio improvements. Zurich said the theater will continue showing movies during the renovation, which should conclude sometime in October. Zurich said the theater will remain closed until Friday while his company makes a few cosmetic changes. And when it reopens, he said customers will find tickets for first-run movies a bit cheaper than they were when AMC Theatres ran the operation. “We generally try to come in and make it affordable for our attendees,” he said.
Great news. Sick of the horrible seats and ripped screens. With the close parking and reasonable ticket prices there is no reason to go elsewhere. Hopefully, they will also hire more people. Now the same guy that sells tickets, bags popcorn and cleans.
Haven't been there in years. If I want to see a movie, I honestly wait until it comes out on DVD. Then I buy it and own it and pass it around.
