THERE SHE IS ~ YEA MARY!  Wow, falling right into the Republican playbook kicking a _ _ and taking names ~ never thought we would see you go negative!

Intersting to see you go after O'Connor ~ didn't know you were running for town board.
I can appreciate the attack on Mertz, he probably pissed you off too at some point.  As I have said in previous posts, I like Mertz and know him well ~ but his refusal to play nice in the sandbox will cost him his election.

The other NNTP guys, yea ~ got lot's of hope for them.  You might want to take notice, the NNTP is NOT Mertz, it's an organized effort that came about from a need in the community ~ should you be nervous?  I would be!

Ms. Barrie is obviously not being well groomed by her party leaders. They seem to have forgotten to inform her that the 'park proposal' was backed and supported by the same party that she is now endorsed by. mertzie was just the spokes person.....as he always was since he was the most genuine and most liked by the people and the most articulate of the bunch when speaking.

As far as fdg's 'water hole'.....ms. barrie, I'm sure will be investigating that issue. That's what she is....an environmentalist.

Mr. Oconner is well know and very very well respected in rotterdam. He has been vocal on many quality of life issues that directly would have effected the residents. Where has ms. barrie been all of these  years?????

I remember her speaking out and writing letters eight or ten years ago. Even further back (94-95) she was vocal against the landfill that Constantino WANTED TO BUILD.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Joe ~ I mean GB ~ She might be vocal, but she has always taken the high road ~ even with CONSTANTINO!

What a shame ~ short lived career running for office.

Come on filipe.....that can't be joe. He has served his time on the county leg and knows full well that an environmentalist, such as ms.barrie is the last thing the county needs. He knows first hand that there are many more pressing issues facing this county. He surely knows that environmentalist are 'tax increasers' and are not 'business friendly'. Nope....can't be joe! He would know better!!

Hey Mertzie ask O'Connor if he is related to Marv Cermak.  I swear he looks like a younger version of him.  At least he does in your website photo.

I sincerely hope that the NNTP ceases their effort to contact unclaimed funds owners in the community.  To me, it just gave the predators of the innocent such as the elderly or mentally disabled a whole new angle to be scammed by.  As has also pointed out on this blog, sometimes people have avoided not collecting their money for legal reasons.  I'm surprised John Mertz, the lawyer of this foursome, didn't think of that.  I personally won't even knock on a door if I see an oxygen in use sign or a wheelchair ramp.  I do not want to disturb someone that may be ill or disabled.

Howver, as a refresher to John's legal mind, I would like to remind everyone about a park proposal for the Great Flats aquifer.  This proposal to me and many was unconscionable to even think of doing anything but keeping it an untouched preserve.  Trail maintenance was the only disturbance many of us would allow.  This area was set aside as a mitigation to build the Mall.  There was a deed restriction on the property that was agreed to by the town.  John proposed using it for athletic fields.  I'm sure John Kagay, Vincent Shafer, and Almy Coggelshall to name a few prominent and brillant men rolled over in their graves at the mere thought of removing or altering the deed restriction on this property.  Many fought the idea, but in the end the DEC lawyers ruled that it was not an allowable use of the property.

I am also wondering what other accomplishments Mike O'Connor has contributed to the community? I know he spearheaded the Masullo Estates project, but what else has he done?  As a member of the RCAC, we invited Mike to join us in our environmental protection and conservation awareness efforts in town, but he wasn't interested at the time.  We need members to help us and yes this is a solicitation.  All are welcome! The pay comes in satisfaction since we only are reimbursed $300.00 a year.

I spearheaded a neighborhood uproar when the Paolino administration wanted to destroy Ft. Hunter Park.  They even had the gaul to rename it.  They had no clue there were endangered species on the property.  In the end, they stuck a skateboard park there touting a $60,000 grant from the state (yes pork money) for it.  We the neighbors reapeatedly told them it was not the right location.  It wasn't about NIMBY.  It was about the demographics which of course they didn't research at all.  The softball park is a great boost to the neighborhood.  They keep the park busy and looking nice.  However, most drive to the park. A skateboard park needed to be located in an area the kids could walk to. Instead the skateboard park got put in area with a small population of kids.  After being an eyesore, money loser due to non-use and vandalized numerous times, Supervisor Steve had it packed up and put in storage.  The paved area now serves as much needed additional parking for the softball league.

Elected officials need to listen to the residents of the community.  While they need to be leaders, they need to still listen and never stop listening.

My platform?? Planning and forward thinking.  Infrastructure, open space and historic preservation are key elements to smart growth.  Population and demographics are tools to assist in planning.  Then community input needs to be highly regarded.

What's the NNTP proposals for our future growth?  Also how will they accomplish unfunded mandates?  It's nice to say you won't raise taxes, but if you say that you also must have a plan to cut services because taxes pay for services.  An unfunded mandates are a reality.  Take a look at some storm sewers in Rottedam.  The logo on them was an unfunded mandate and a lot of work by town employees to carry out.

BTW, free internet service is available at the libraries.  I don't know about the rest of the libraries around, but I can tell you that the one in Rotterdam has an outstanding staff of folks, volunteers and paid, that will always help you out if you need it.

I'm just throwing out some ideas to be chewed on this morning.

unfortunately only Sal's friends will be effect....but, that was due to lack of planning and foresight of GE 'pull-away' and
the greasy palms and siphons.......chew on that too......

Perhaps I need to explain my John Mertz comments further.  We didn't agree on an issue. I wasn't attacking him.  There were issues I did agree with him on and even came to a town board meeting one night to defend an accusation against him and me.  John looked at the word "park" in the deed restriction. What he was proposing was a park. It would also have been an allowable use in that area of the Great Flats.  What I couldn't get John to see was the moral and emotion issue behind that quid pro quo. There were people that dedicated their efforts to stop the Mall from being built. The Nature Preserve was the trade-off.  If the deed restriction had said "preserve", I don't believe John or any other town board member at the time would have entertained anything more than what is currently there.  The creators of the deed restriction should have said "preserve" in the deed restriction. I am confident that if there was a need to continue the fight against the park in that area, the seated TB members would have eventually seen what the opposition was saying. The property was also in Agricultural zoning and could have been allowed to be used as a pig farm if someone had wanted to use it for that. What the RCAC requested was that it be put in Land Conservation zoning which the TB did approve.

Mike O'Connor was someone we wanted on the RCAC. I'm just curious what other community projects he has worked on besides Masullo Estates.  Masullo Estates should have been built like the homes in Coldbrook on slabs. That area had been a swamp with a highground water issue.

Thanks for the reminder GB on the landfill issue.  It was Friends of the Aquifer, f/k/a Citizens Against the Dump a citizens group that continues to keep a watchful eye over our water supply that got the attention of Joe Signore to close the Rotterdam landfill once and for all.  Joe delivered on his campaign promise and closed the C & D landfill.

Next time you go to the tap, thank an environmentalist!  The cost of preserving our aquifer is priceless.

Mary should start campaigning on Schenectady County issues. Aren't you on the same REP "team"? Watch our Mike O! The long swords are already coming out. Party loyalty ain't what it used to be.

Great turnout for the NNTP party last night at Mallozzi's. Wonderful seeing so many business leaders from all over the County. These candidates are knocking on doors and now have funds for mail and media. Not everyone is so thrilled with one party-working together team?

The NNTP affair was a huge success. There was a tremendous crowd from the entire County. Fed up with high taxes-fed up with fees-fed up with the stunad controlled system of DEMS controlling all lines and clueless REPS who have voted to commit suicide.

This is hardly a fading fad. Michael O'Connor will easily take a seat on the town board. Then its off to the races COUNTYWIDE.

NO NEW TAX PARTY ANNOUNCES PUBLIC WORKSHOP

The No New Tax Party candidates will hold a public workshop to discuss the important issues in Schenectady County District 4 and the Town of Rotterdam.

The workshop is open to the public.  It is intended to listen to the concerns of residents and promote the exchange of constructive ideas toward future solutions.  The No New Tax Party candidates are glad to provide an opportunity for residents to express their views in an intimate forum designed for substantive discussion.

The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the large meeting room at the Rotterdam Branch Library, 1100 N. Westcott Road, in Rotterdam.
***************************************************************************************
This type of workshop has been offered by ONLY ONE political party – the No New Tax Party!   The "other" parties may have had gatherings but they were probably fundraisers.  This is NOT a fundraiser; they aren’t asking for money.   The candidates are making themselves available to discuss the issues that are important to the residents!  If you haven’t done so already, come and meet the NNTP team …they are unique individuals with progressive ideas…they don’t rely on the big businessmen or developers in Rotterdam to direct their actions.   They are committed to the residents of Rotterdam and will serve you well, when elected.
Bring your concerns and ideas or simply come to listen to a new way of governing our town.
Vote Row F – Brian McGarry, Mike O’Connor, John Mertz and Brad Littlefield
