City of Schenectady edges Rotterdam for best water in county

SCHENECTADY COUNTY — After two weeks of voting and re-voting, the city of Schenectady now officially has the best-tasting water in Schenectady County.

Last Thursday, after 30 votes over two hours in the rain at the downtown farmers market, the votes were tabulated and a tie was reached. “This had never happened to us before and we dumped out the water before we counted the votes. If we had kept the water we could have done a tie-breaker,” said Jason Petton of the county Planning Board.

The tie was between the city and the town of Rotterdam. Rotterdam won the competition last year.
