Didn't some of fdg's mailers say 'renewrotterdam'? The site wasn't impressive. I thought it was basically fluff! Although it appears to still be under construction.

Thanks for the info MT!!!!!

So one party (reps/tommasone) is going to RENEW ROTTERDAM! By raising taxes by supporting a taxing district for rems.

And the other party (dems/fdg) is going to REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM! By turning the town over to the developers/landowners.

Row 'F' people!!!! We finally have another choice!! We don't have to pick the 'lesser of two evils'!

Our old assessor did that to me to. They aren't suppose to do that....so I've been told anyway.

Vaedur,

You may want to read the information at the URL below

http://www.orps.state.ny.us/legal/opinions/v10/60.htm

"An assessor may not selectively reassess property such as by reassessing only those properties which recently have been conveyed or improved."

The practice of spot (selective) reassessment has been ruled unconstitutional (see below from http://www.orps.state.ny.us/legal/opinions/v9/18.htm) though reports/claims of such practice are common in many communities.

Quoted Text
"The practice of selectively reassessing only those properties which are the subject of a recent sale has been reviewed and rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court, the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division and the Suffolk County Supreme Court (Allegheny Pittsburgh Coal Co. v. County Commission of Webster County, West Virginia, 488 U.S. 336; 109 S.Ct. 633, 102 LEd.2d 688 (1989 ); Matter of Charles Krugman v. Board of Assessors of the Wage of Atlantic Beach, et al., 141 A.D.2d 175, 533 N.Y.S.2d 495 (2d Dept. 1988 ); Nash v. Assessor of the Town of Southampton, Sup.Ct., Suffolk Co., January 25, 1989, Cromarty, J.). The U.S. Supreme Court concluded that this type of selective reassessment practice is unconstitutional because it systematically produces dramatic differences in values between recently transferred property and otherwise comparable property. The New York courts have also concluded that selective reassessment is constitutionally infirm.

You may want to do some research on the "Welcome Neighbor" or "Welcome Stranger".  If you believe that your property assessment was increased solely due to the conveyence of title from seller to purchaser, you may have just cause to argue for a reduction in the assessment.  Be careful to ensure that the reassessment did not result from modifications/enhancements to the property.  Finally, the taxes billed may increase due to a loss of exemptions (e.g., Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, Veteran's, etc.) granted to the seller for which the purchaser(s) do not qualify.

I doubt that Bumble.  Was it new construction?  Did you improve the property?  You have very little credibility when you don't give specifics.  But then again that is the microcosim of steve's administration.  Lie and deceive, tell em what the sheeple want to hear and when all else fails go negative, scorch the earth.

Steve is also on that horrible WFP line. What REP in his or her right mind seeks that commie line?

Spot assessment is done all the time. Up and down. Don't care what the State bureaucrats say. V did you pay  more than the previous assessed value? There's the problem along with horrible Mr. Surprise.

PDQ is right about Steve. It's over. According to my town hall spies his REPS appointments are in a complete panic. Don't update your resumes on taxpayer time-lol. They can all read a poll and talk to their neighbors.

Sorry to not clarify, i think it was when everyone's taxes went up about $60 dollars for the new year, i believe it was a hike most recieved and not the a new assessment... I moved in as the change was happening...

I was not reassessed...

My point was that we both thought the flier was "misinformation" and trying to take credit for a natural ocurance of the 2007 reassessment that made people's values jump and taxes rise..  I know i can be a bit confusing on what i'm thinking some times.

And brad, Keep up the good work, thanks for trying to help.. since i been on this board numerous times you have either tried to help or point me in the right direction .. I appreciate it.

I'll say Steve is in a panic.  He doesn't even return phone calls.  He is asking Lynn Fiorillo to answer the calls coming to him.  Outrageous!!!  Is she the Deputy Supervisor?  Steve knows that it's over.  And btw so does his family.  He will be fired by the sheeple on election day.
