Amsterdam school budget shot down for second time Wednesday, June 17, 2009 By Jessica Harding (Contact) Gazette Reporter
AMSTERDAM — Despite the best efforts of some Greater Amsterdam School District employees, voters rejected the district’s proposed $55.4 million budget a second time Tuesday. The defeat means little to the taxpayer, Superintendent Thomas Perillo said. The district will still collect about 11 percent more money from taxpayers districtwide next year. The district needs to shave $200,000 off its proposed budget, which increased spending by 4.5 percent, to bring it down to contingency, which is a level set by state guidelines. A Board of Education meeting is scheduled for tonight and budget items on the chopping block include four custodian positions and http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/jun/17/0617_amster_budget/ modified sports program. However, Perillo said nothing is off limits.............>>>>.................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/jun/17/0617_amster_budget/
I was amazed when I read this. Perhaps the schenectady school district can take some pointers from them....
