SCHENECTADY COUNTY — Schenectady County will expand its Empire Zone boundaries by 18 percent to include 220 acres of prime, developable buildings and properties within Rotterdam, Glenville and the city, officials said. The proposed expansion will encompass all of the key business districts within the city, around 22 acres of property within Glenville, approximately 122 acres near Interstate 88 and Interstate 90 in Rotterdam and major sections of the Rotterdam Corporate Park, including its small business center. The current Schenectady-Glenville Empire Zone contains 1,280 acres and was last amended in 2005. Inclusion in the Empire Zone “makes a site more attractive to investors who bring jobs and new investment to Schenectady County,” said Ray Gillen, commissioner of economic development for Schenectady County and chairman of the Metroplex Development Authority................>>>>..................>>>>...........http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2009/jun/10/0610_zone/
