ROTTERDAM Democrats seize power over town Del Gallo unseats incumbent supervisor Tommasone BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Businessman Frank Del Gallo led the Rotterdam Democrats to a clean sweep over their Republican and No New Tax Party opponents. The 70-year-old self-made millionaire beat incumbent Supervisor Steve Tommasone to become Rotterdam’s next supervisor. The Rotterdam Democrats also won three Town Board seats up for election, thereby seizing the supermajority that the GOP had enjoyed since the 2007 election. During his campaign, Del Gallo defended his ability to lead the town despite not having finished high school. “I won’t let ’em down,” Del Gallo said of the voters during a celebration at Mallozzi’s Restaurant late Tuesday evening. “I’ll give ’em 100 percent of what I got.” Del Gallo led Tommasone by a vote of 3,460 to 3,225, according to preliminary results. Brian McGarry, a Conservative running for supervisor on the No New Tax Party slate, came in a distant third place with 1,451 votes. Robert Godlewski, who served on the board for one year in 2007, cruised to an easy victory with fellow Democratic candidate Matt Martin, a political newcomer. They managed to secure margins in excess of 700 votes to beat incumbent board member Joe Signore and Joe Suhrada, a Republican county legislator who decided to run for the board instead; John Mertz, a Republican running on the No New Tax Party slate, didn’t come close to challenging for a seat. ............>>>>...................>>>>.................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00902&AppName=1

This isn't a S.T. thing....this is the RESIDENTS thing! FDG will lose this election, merely on the fact that his main contributers are the exact same ones that played a negative role in the walmart fiasco. That is a memory that is still too fresh in people's minds.
It 'pay to play' at it's best. IMHO

When Mr.FDG and the 'posse' get into the TH....when Mr.FDG thinks he owns something that is worth way less (certainly not smart from business sense, why own/build crap),,,,then everyone else's value will be lower....
does anyone know what happens when the assessed value of housing in an area goes down????
we will all own, our own dollar store homes......
so...is it the valuation or the levy??? those are the two choices we have........
remember---IT'S BIGGER THAN ROTTERDAM.....got gold???? |

ROTTERDAM Supervisor-elect went from humble origins to new heights BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Life was anything but easy growing up on Cutler Street during the early 1940s. At the time, the bustling street in Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood was crowded with low-income and immigrant families. Poverty was common, and there was seldom time to do anything but work. Frank Del Gallo, the first-generation American-born son and 10th child of his Italian parents, didn’t know anything else. His mother worked in a nightgown factory and his father was a janitor at General Electric. “They never spoke much about where they came from,” Rotterdam’s supervisor-elect recalled last week from his office off of Mariaville Road. “For them, it was more about surviving here.” Del Gallo began working full time at the age of 8. He delivered papers before school, dozed through his lessons and then set up pins at a local bowling alley until midnight. There wasn’t any other choice. When Del Gallo was 10, his father died abruptly of a brain hemorrhage and the family needed the income even more. They slept three to a bed. Every dime he made went to supporting his family. “We never owned a bike and we never owned a car,” he said. “But everybody was like that.” He took an interest in masonry. He watched accomplished masons work and began mixing concrete on his own in the cellar of his family’s rented flat. At the age of 18, he started his own swimming pool-building business. By the time he was 21, he was building his own house. From there, Del Gallo never looked back. Now, after more than 52 years of hard work, he’s a multimillionaire who playfully suggests that he’s lost track of his holdings. Not that any of his affluence is apparent at first glance. In person, he’s the opposite of the polished guy in a suit and tie who appeared on his campaign literature. He has bushy salt-and-pepper hair, rosy cheeks and a genial smile. One suspects he’s most comfortable in work boots and denim. ......................>>>>.....................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00102&AppName=1

It is mentioned in the article about the Canal Corp and issues. I have a boat on the canal and I believe what is stated in the article about that is untrue.
In other words, I believe its several paragraphs of bullshit. So for me, it made the entire article unbelievable. Of course I was told that the article itself could be incorrect so that puts the onus on the reporter.
But if he said what he said, its a bunch of crap. So be prepared for the Kratz takeover of Rotterdam. You get the government that you elect. |

There was no news value. Now rotterdam will have it's own cheerleading/fluff section in the gazette. |

Let the martyrdom commence.
8th grade education.
Rosy cheeks, salt and pepper hair, genial smile... Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, Justin Mason was snug in his bed, then he awoke to a clatter stuffed way inside his head, I will write a story on Delgallo's rise from a mouse. |

Doesn't rhyme Mary. Besides, we're still working the Thanksgiving theme.
Think turkey, stuffing, etc. |

No he didn't outsmart me. His handlers outsmarted most of the ignorant in Rotterdam. I won't apologize for my degrees or formal education and I do not begruge someone for feeding his family at an early age, but don't think for one minute that I won't be at all of the Town Board meetings make my ire known should he not be able to comprehend the running of this Town! If his handlers pipe up and speak for him, I will shut them right down! |
