Bumble ~ it's Felipe not Filipe ~ and no, not hell bent on destroying anyone ~ not in my dna. Whatever befalls the Republican leadership is on them, nobody to blame but themselves. Of course, those in power now are only good at pointing blame at everyone else.
We DO agree on our supervisor candidate MCGARRY ~ As for the attacks on fdg, I have only cautioned everyone that character assassinations are dangerous. Fdg has obviously been able to put good strong people around him to pave the road to success, no doubt he’s good at managing.
But life experience trumps academics in most cases and that plays well to both McGarry and Fdg ~ we need someone (hopefully McGarry) who can work together and build bridges ~ not banish those who dare say the king has no clothes.
Sal ~ just as an aside, I know you keep mentioning that Mertz is somehow connected to DelGallo/Mallozzi's ~ from what I can gather there is no reason to believe what you are saying. Mertz has been with the NNTP guys and had apparently joined them at the RBA meeting, so 'no' I don't believe he's supporting anyone but McGarry, O'Connor and Littlefield.
ok sir believe what you need to believe I am very fine with that since you arent a repub I think so : you are free to do that there. People I know who are indeed in the know tell me a differnt thing even though mertz is a repub and i think he is no good
Personally attacking a very likeable individual in this manner will do the opposite of what they are trying to accomplish. In a Town like Rotterdam, this type of retoric will only push the voters further away from your camp.
It does prove that Reps own polls show Tommasone in deep Chit. This personal attack by Parisi will only help DelGallo continue his momentum.
Oh yes like Tommasone, Buchanan, Parisi, Suhrada and Signore are part of the brain trust!!! Give me a break. If their results in office and leadership is an example of what their education is I will take FDG any day. At least he knows how to spend and save wisely. Maybe when they all lose they can write their memoirs. Lots of folks in this town have not graduated from high school or have GED's. Parisi showed just how stupid he was by his comments to the paper.
Here's some stats for you from my Literacy Volunteers days--Henry Ford, Walt Disney, Dave Thomas and Richard Branson--no high school education. Think how much money they COULD have made if they had one.
People LIKE FDG and that is why he will walk away with this election. I hope he does not give in and participate in the debate. Parisi is a HUGE Jackass.
I hope he does not give in and participate in the debate.
I'm just sure that you do hope that he doesn't! It would be a disaster and you know that!

This is what is so funny here-Steve's biggest supporter BT-isn't even voting for him-he's voting for Brian McGarry.
BT is having some fun. Even he knows Steve is finished-Steve can't be re-elected another time-Steve has been a complete disaster to the financial well being of this town.
This is not a competitive race. Nobody wants Steve for yet another term-if he has a clue we would have seen it before now. And his appointments-anyone that would pick Mr. Surprise for anything must be run out of town on a rail.

Maybe it was his way of flipping the bird to the people on the way out the door..

I don't spell check! Sorry... If you include "No offense" in a statement, chances are, your statement is offensive.

mr. benny, I am not a supporter of s.t.. But I wouldn't quite discount him yet. Has anyone driven through town lately? Almost all of fdg's signs are on 'public property'. S.T.'s and mcgarry's are on 'private property'. Properties that have actual voters residing there.
I'm a registered blank and look at all sides objectively. fdg is the most unqualified of the bunch. And I am disappointed in the dems for putting fdg in this embarrassing situation to begin with. However, on the flip side, I am grateful that we now have another choice. And that choice should go to the most qualified...and that is mcgarry.
I, as well as others, are sick and tired of a two party rule. It clearly is not working. We fortunately have another choice. A choice to vote for someone who is not beholden to or sheltered by any party or party bosses. Someone who goes out there...door to door with residents. Someone who is willing to debate the issues with his opponent.
It's a no brainer here folks.IMHO

Rotterdam GOP calls Dem challenger ‘illiterate,' Dems say accusation against supervisor candidate ‘ridiculous’ and ‘degrading’
Sean Ahern 10/14/09
In a Monday, Oct. 12, letter to the Rotterdam Democratic Committee, Republican Committee Chairman Gerard Parisi said that Democratic town supervisor candidate and local businessman Frank Del Gallo is unqualified for a number of reasons, including is his alleged inability to read or write. According to Parisi, anonymous sources close to Del Gallo have stated that he may be unqualified as town supervisor.
“I’m not trying to insult the guy, but if he can’t read or write, he may not be fit for town supervisor,” said Parisi.
In a Tuesday, Oct. 13, conversation, Democratic Chairman Bill Cooke questioned the motivation behind those accusations.
“That’s ridiculous,” said Cooke. “I think that they know that they’re in trouble. With that kind of distortion and kind of unprofessionalism – it’s a degrading letter; it’s a simple as that. Really they’re just degrading themselves by writing a letter like that.”
In late September, Republican Town Supervisor Steven Tommasone, who is seeking reelection, challenged Del Gallo to three debates – a challenge that, according to Parisi, went unanswered.
“We want an honest and open debate for people to hear instead of getting inundated with false facts and lies in campaign materials,” said Parisi at the time.
Cooke said that, in light of recent comments made about Del Gallo’s literacy, the Democrats are not likely to respond to Parisi’s call for debates. “Whether you think he’s a good supervisor candidate or not, you don’t trash an individual like that,” said Cooke. “I wouldn’t put my candidates in a debate with them after seeing this letter. In my opinion, I do not believe we are going to debate now.”
Parisi said the Rotterdam GOP believes Del Gallo has spread rumors in campaign publications, and the party would have liked to see a debate to clear the air. Initially, Cooke responded to Parisi’s debate challenge with a letter asking why, out of five contested elections, only the town supervisor candidates were asked to debate. He also asked why the GOP did not consider the public forum scheduled by the League of Women Voters on Oct. 20 an appropriate venue.
“We have five contested races, I don’t know why they don’t want to debate the other four,” said Cooke. “I never said that we wouldn’t debate, I just asked him questions about the letter and why he wanted to debate. … Why is he picking one race out of five? I don’t know.”
Parisi said he believes that the League of Women Voter’s “Meet the Candidates Night” is an open forum during the election, but that it does not give the candidates enough time to talk about the issues that face the town.
“The [League of Women Voter’s Meet the Candidates Night] is a forum for all of the candidates in Rotterdam, but there is no time for a supervisors debate,” said Parisi. “Bottom line is that we want a supervisors debate. The town supervisor is the chief position in the town of Rotterdam, and we want to have a debate so that the citizens are informed of their candidates in a honest and open discussion instead of the political fliers.” In his Oct. 12 letter, Parisi stated, “We wish to publicly discuss for open and honest consumption the incredible record that Supervisor Steve Tommasone has over the past four years.”
Parisi then mentioned the extensive road work and the Rotterdam Junction Water tank and resulting drainage issues completed under Tommasone’s tenure.
He goes on to state why he believes Del Gallo is unqualified to be supervisor of the Town of Rotterdam. Parisi said he believes that the candidate has no idea how a town government works and that he had questionable financial disclosures during the election. He added that Del Gallo “never disclosed his level of formal education and training.”
“Several people have claimed/alleged that he may not be able to read or write,” wrote Parisi. “The town is a complex operation. I hope this is not the case.”
Parisi said he believes the other candidates the Democrats have picked for the election are fit for public office, but he wanted a debate to see if Del Gallo has the understanding needed to run town government. “I believe that this man is particularly and uniquely unqualified,” said Parisi. “I can’t say that about the other candidates.”
If it isn't true....it may be considered degrading. But if it is true......???????
Come on fdg....prove em all wrong and go to the debate ALONE! I'd have to guess that since the reps put this info out, they know more than they are letting out right now. So now is the time for fdg to go to the debate, let his education record out and prove them wrong. That's what I'd do and so would anyone else.

The 10/14/2009 Spotlight article is an example of the mud-slinging that the Republicans feel they must use to win votes. The Democratic candidates mailed out literature stating that they are going to reform our town and it implied that people would be "fired" once the Dems took office. And actually the door-to-door visits confirmed the firing promise.
The No New Tax Party candidates do not subscribe to the above mentioned tactics and activities. Do the right thing and Vote Row F on Election Day!
“I’m not trying to insult the guy, but if he can’t read or write, he may not be fit for town supervisor,” said Parisi.
looking for another trough to feed from?????? OMG!!!!!!! Certainly NOT the sharpest tool in the shed....and then 4 years from now he can claim that ST took him for a ride and so did Buchanan.......GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! forget it.......or get it together....get out of high school and move on......
