CHRYSLER WANTS TO CLOSE 28 DEALERSHIPS ACROSS NEW YORK...THREE IN THE CAPITAL REGION...AS PART OF A NATIONWIDE EFFORT TO CONSOLIDATE ITS BUSINESS. THE AUTO GIANT ANNOUNCED PLANS TO ELIMINATE 789 OF ITS DEALERSHIPS IN A BANKRUPTCY COURT FILING TODAY. CHRYSLER SAYS THE DEALERSHIP NETWORK IS ANTIQUATED AND HAS TOO MANY OUTLETS COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER. DEALERS CAN APPEAL TO THE COMPANY IF THEY HAVE BEEN SLATED FOR CLOSING. THOSE IN OUR AREA TARGETED FOR CLOSING INCLUDE TERRY CHRYSLER-JEEP IN BURNT HILLS, JOHN C. MILLER IN JOHNSTOWN, AND SCOTIA MOTORS.

That is too bad. I heard on the news tonight that Chrysler said they had too many dealerships out there. It created too much competition for each dealership. Terry Morris in Burnt Hills is one that they will close. Just what this area needs.

Government business plan!!  we will tax cigarettes to pay for healthcare and spend money to educate smokers about the health hazards so they stop smoking.  and then when there arent enough smokers to pay for healthcare we will tax....... italian immigrants because they all have tons of money in their homes, stuffed under mattresses, behind fake bricks, and hidden in the walls... get in line sal you are next for the tax increase.

government business plan #2 we will give the states millions to hire more people to dig ditches and then when that money runs out - they will make it up with      take a guess sal, more taxes!!!  I actually saw three state workers putting up a men at work sign on the crosstown two days ago, not one of looked they knew what they were doing.... three people to put up one sign - very efficient...

The more Sal's posts the more communist he sounds.

This makes 4 car dealerships that will close in this County. Hundreds of thousands of sales tax revenues lost. Hundreds of jobs lost. Who do you think will pay for your stuna welfare programs? And then he jumps up and down about opening one terrible burrito shoppe.

Coming soon to Bombers Burrito's-The Mad Bomber! Extra beans, cheese and full of pork. An explosive new offering. Available now in "renaissance" Downtown Schenectady.

June 7 (Bloomberg) -- Chrysler LLC creditors asked a U.S. Supreme Court justice to block the carmaker from selling its assets as early as tomorrow to a group led by Italy’s Fiat SpA.

Indiana pension funds that lent Chrysler money said in papers filed late yesterday that they will seek a Supreme Court review of a ruling allowing the sale. The funds asked Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for an order blocking the transfer until the high court decides whether to hear the funds’ appeal.

“Absent a stay, the sale will close on Monday, June 8, 2009,” the funds said in their court papers, filed in Washington. They said they would suffer “irreparable harm” should the sale go forward.

A federal appeals court in Manhattan on June 5 upheld a bankruptcy judge’s ruling letting the sale proceed, while ordering the decision put on hold until 4 p.m. tomorrow to let the creditors appeal to the Supreme Court. If the justices deny a stay sooner than that, Chrysler can complete the sale immediately.

Ginsburg, who handles emergency matters from the New York- based court, can either act on her own or refer the matter to the full nine-member court. The votes of at least four of the nine justices are required for the Supreme Court to consider the appeal.

The Indiana funds, holding $42.5 million of $6.9 billion in Chrysler secured loans, contend the Fiat deal is a misuse of the Troubled Asset Relief Program, which they say was intended for financial institutions, not carmakers.

Sal's about as Italiano as patty's pig. He's a figment.

The closure of 2 Chrysler dealers and a GMC Dealer will have a dramatic impact on County finances. Let's see how much sales tax revenue increases under Death Ray, Rooney and SS Savage this year-lol. "We must keep the highest taxes in place because we all understand the necessity of record taxes." Not every welfare case has moved in yet?

These idiots were already planning a 18% COUNTYWIDE property tax increase to fund the "new" home. Even Albany is trimming pork, laying off lobs and trashing welfare programs. Never Schenectady. God forbid some patronage hack gets canned. The City Schools is only one leg of patronage stool. When are you sheeple gonna wake up?

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court has cleared the way for Chrysler's sale to Fiat, turning down a last-ditch bid by opponents of the deal.

The court said late Tuesday it had rejected a plea to block the sale of most of Chrysler's assets to the Italian automaker. Chrysler, Fiat and the Obama administration had warned that the high court's intervention could have scuttled the sale.

A federal appeals court in New York had earlier approved the sale, but gave opponents until Monday afternoon to try to get the Supreme Court to intervene.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ordered a temporary delay just before a 4 p.m. deadline on Monday.

Now the court has freed the automakers to complete their deal.
