I received an invitation to the Reagan's Birthday fundraiser for the Schenectady County Republican party in today's mail.  $99 individual / $175 couple.  The event is being held at the Stadium Golf Course.  All the familiar names are listed as hosts for the event.

I would scan the invitation and post it here, but I shredded it as soon as I opened and read it.  Though Ronald Reagan is someone who I respected greatly, I won't be attending any events sponsored by the local Republican party or contributing a dime of my hard earned money until and unless there is a change in leadership AND Republican candidates with conservative political views are endorsed.  Until such time, you can take me off your mailing list and save the postage.

Good post Brad. I would bet their attendance will be WAY down this year - a lot of people feel that way.

Who can support a party that allows blank slates to be run, has poor management and is having trouble hanging on to the last republican controlled stronghold in Rotterdam? The Dems have already announced their slate (which I don't agree with their cross-endorsements either, but it shows organization).

Good post Brad, and I, like others, share the same sentiment, but with ALL of the parties. They can ALL forget to send me any campaign fliers either. They will ALL go into the outside garbage before they even make it into the house. And they can save their money on robo calls, cause they will get the big 'click' if I should pick them up.

Sal, I tried to block your posts.  But, your imaginary persona (and that of LeftTurnClyde) are so tranparent and comical that I had to unblock you.

No, JoAnn, I didn't say anything of what Sal attributed to me.  I suspect that Sal and I will never be of the same mind or on the same side of politics.

I will vote for the candidate with conservative values regardless of party affiliation.  If there is no candidate who shares my viewpoint, I will abstain.  I won't vote for a Republican solely because he or she has a "R" next to his or her name.  And, unless I can identify a conservative Democrat, which is rarer than a white donkey, I likely won't pull the lever for the endorsed Democrat either.  I will pause before I pull the lever for a third party candidate who is cross-endorsed by a major party wondering to who he or she feels loyalty - the party bosses or the constituents.

Based on the lackluster Republican candidates (LibertyNJustice calls them political placebos) being discussed for the Schenectady County Legislature, I predict that the Democrats will sweep the county races this year.  I also think that the Republicans will lose seats on the Rotterdam Town Board.  There will likely be some surprises.

I am looking forward to taking a "Salami victory lap" when my predictions become reality.     Not that I prefer one party government in Schenectady County government.  But, with Tedisco's defeat and the loss of power by the Republicans in the county, there will be much needed change in Republican party leadership.

One slight correction this is for the Rotterdam REPS not the County REPS. Don't think we should penalize the one successful REP town committee.

One name on the ballot, cross endorsed by 3 minor parties, is nothing to have a victory lap for. That's exactly what we will see in November if some of yous don't wake up today.

I would hate to see the dems take control of Rotterdam....AGAIN! But perhaps that is the firecracker the reps need up their butt to change their leadership, ideology and vision. The dems and cons have been hell bend on destroying what is left of the reps, and they have just about accomplished it.

NOW, if the reps were as hell bent on seeking a more competent leadership, candidate, vision and ideology, perhaps we wouldn't be in this situation, would we. Blame the dems all you want, and it is accurately deserved, but where have the reps been all of this time?

And dontcha worry. We woke up a long time ago.
