First of all I also have never flipped the lever for town clerk either. It's just not that important to me. The job is not a 'policy changing' job.
Second, this is not a popularity contest...not for me anyway. Nor is it political....not for me anyway. The person who makes a statement about a job like.....'even if it kills me, I'm staying on'...is clearly making this political. It is just a town clerk for God's sake. If this job is a 'social event' for Ms. Esposito....Rotterdam has a great senior center. It's time to go...in all due respect.
Thirdly, it is still all about this so called part time position that clearly was NOT needed and should have never been approved. Ms. Esposito could not keep up, plain and simple and understandably. Again, IF this were the private sector, and I couldn't keep up, that would be the day that my boss would hire another person for a one person job.
Lastly....if tommasone (whether I want to see him re-elected or not) chose to look for a replacement for Ms. Esposito.......and if this ended up deep sixing his election, than Rotterdamians are a far more shallow townspeople than I thought.
Again....it's just a town clerk position for God's sake. IMHO

Sorry, but a job is a job. Employment is employment. There should not be 2 seperate set of rules. It is the public sector that has the most obsurd issues.

There's a major issue against John. He supported Spritzer's proposal to give license's to illegal aliens. No other Upstate Clerk was so stuna.
Anyone who thinks he is doing a good job-needs to get down there more. Merritt ran it like a tight ship. John also promised a Rotterdam office-how's that going? John has nothing to worry about-with the current state of the REPS he is set for life. Why are clerks elected? To control patronage hires. There's probably 40 County lob jobs that the Krats now control.
Woodweird has been a dismal dem leader. Supports third rate candidates and doesn't deliver. His cozy relationship with Tommy Gun Buchanan is his reason for running unopposed. Not saying he'd get beat but run someone to garner name recognizition for a city or town run. Woodweird has been the repubs best friend in Rotterdam. Ask siggy who is fishin bud is. (Woodweird campaign manager cuzzin brucey.)
ok well I probably wont vote for clerk. Like others I never have. It truly is a meaningless position politicaly speaking. I would just worry about her age and the liability of being old and still working. But hey its not my decision. PDQ iam not all that familiar with the other you speak about. Just of what the paper says. OH WELL. Time to move on!!!
For all those saying "I won't vote" for this position or another ... honestly, and with no disrespect intended, you've got nothing to b**ch about when she gets re-elected. If you want to change who sits in that office, it can only be done through the polls (or her choice, death or disability). Until then, I'm sure she'll continue to get re-elected thanks to the people that can't be bothered to "pull the lever".
In all due respect.....it is a clerical position! And no one is bit**ing here. Just giving our opinion of the 'position'.
AGAIN.....why did this part-time typist position need to be created? WHY?

The typist position was in the budget since 2007 and maybe even before that. Ms. Cagnina had a chance to take the civil service test just like the rest of the people in the County of Schenectady. Why she didn't take it is beyond reason. While Mrs. Espositio feels it would be beneficial to bend the civil service rules, Mr. Tommasone feels that the town should not bend the rules and hire someone from the list. The people in this town need to get over themselves. It is a civil service typist position, not a political appointment.
Right wondering-it makes absolutely no sense. If she's so great, take the exam.
Also making no sense is Eunice reason for running yet again-to give Steve agita? She's a great lady but somehow this town will get by without her. Call it a day and enjoy your grandchildren.
Ms. Cagnina should run for town clerk. She can make her $47,000 per year instead of the typist salary of less. If anyone read the minutes, they would know that Ms. Cagnina was appointed Deputy Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics from 04/01/09 to 05/2009. Maybe she was promised the part time typist job forever, who knows. Was it really newsworthy? After the article came out, I am not even sure who came out looking worse, Eunice, Steve T. or Laura.
