The California man's 13-year-old daughter, Reina, racked up an astonishing 14,528 text messages in one month. The online AT&T statement ran 440 pages.

It works out to 484 text messages a day, or one every two minutes of every waking hour.

And they wonder why kids aren't learning anything.  Actually I heard on the news tonight that the government is looking into law where driving while on a cell phone, with or without a hands free device, along with text messaging will be against the law. Except for the hands free device, there already laws on the books.

But here is the thing.....how many years has cell phones been available? How many years have people been driving and using them? MANY!!! So why a hurry for a law now? REVENUES!!!!!

I agree that cars and cells don't mix...but let's look at it from the government's point of view. REVENUES!!!!!

Good point when did she do classwork and where were the teachers and how about homework?  Then again maybe she is home on detention for texting in class.

Maybe it's just coming out as a story and it was in the summer when the child wasn't in school.
