Dominic Dagostino, a Conservative running with the Democratic backing, captured the position of Schenectady County sheriff Tuesday night by more than 1,000 votes in unofficial results. Dagostino, 43, defeated Joseph Lazzari, a member of the Independence Party running on the Republican line. The sheriff’s race was the only contested countywide race. District Attorney Robert Carney, a Democrat, ran unopposed. “I think we won it,” Dagostino said late Tuesday night. “We could not have done any better than we could.” Dagostino said he will file his retirement papers this week with the state. He has more than 20 years in with the Rotterdam Police Department, where he is a lieutenant in the Detective Division. He also plans to take a week off to hunt. “It’s hunting season,” he said. Lazzari said he has no regrets about the race. “We ran a good, honest, professional campaign with nothing negative, and I am proud of that fact. The Schenectady County Board of Elections reports it has received 1,216 absentee ballots. Yes....you are correct......and it should be mandatory for kids to read it.......the socio-political changes are something to learn from the book......

I am sure I am older than you but I read it after having read The Fountainhead. I was then a junior at St. Rose. It was 1969 -1970 and thinks were exploding on every campus. Are you old enough to remember Kent State?
They don't make kids read those kinds of things anymore. Just a side note-my youngest called from DC yesterday to ask me about the Scozzafava race. He said his university was glued to what was happening here. Go figure...

Righteous, I believe you were a little too harsh on Gadfly. She works hard on a campaign especially one she believes in. She believed in very good candidates, (although I did tell her Dems would sweep here and all surrounding towns) and they got beat. Cut her some slack. The only folks who got the swat they deserved was the Tom and Gerry show. Are they out of the bunker yet? Are they still eating the meatloaf? Reps should be uniting to demand the ouster of Howdy Doody and GP.
No Righteous--go easy on Gadfly--this has been a tough day for her.
