Barking orders on my cell phone, surfing on my in car computer, while chomping on a big cigar. Now I feel so much safer because of "Assemblywoman" Sue "THE" Savage. She's right{?} Schenectady County is a great place to pay Metrograft and record County property taxes!

What a surprise! As predicted by moi and reported by Marv Cermak {in today's TU} Sue "THE" Savage has pulled out of consideration for the Assembly seat. Something about couldn't pin Jeff Blatnick {R-Ballston Lake}. She is "considering" a run for State Senate! Ha-Ha, Hee-Hee, Ho-Ho. lol!!. Like voters in Fulton County would support her. This is too funny. Delusions of competence. Say Schenectady County.

Too bad she doesn't have to resign from the county in order to run, that'd be sweet

it is insane to be against any and every thing that could save the lives over here. Over there in the old country things were dangerous too and our people left to come to safer and better places here and when things were dangerous like the way the hillbillies here lived with the guns and that there then the old timers would rightfuly go on back to th e old country where there was the security they knew would protect them the carbineri who watched out for us. I read the crazy thing you said about the guns and it scares me to think you repubs have the guns since the goverenment cant control you the way it needs to now because they let it get out of hand with all these crazy guns everywhere. WHO WILL PROTECT US NOW THAT ALL YOU RED KNECKS HAVE THE GUNS? WHO?

Yeah, Sal.....and you're soooooo urbane.......I bet you have sticks and stones....all you need now is a recycled rubberband and
we could have a 'little war' in your little Italy.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Without enforcement, car texting ban a joke

Schenectady County lawmakers did it a few months ago, and now Albany County’s have passed a law making it illegal for motorists to send text-messages on their cellphones while driving. Good for them, but how do they envision this law being enforced?
It’s not so easy to tell, at least not from outside the car, when a motorist is pecking away at his cellphone’s keypad (which, more than likely, is in his lap). It’s far easier to ascertain, for example, when someone is yakking on their cellphone — which has been illegal across the state since 2001. And everyone knows how lax cops are about enforcing that law.
So the texting-while-driving ban, while certainly well-intentioned, is probably going to do little to discourage people from engaging in that suicidal behavior. It’s little more than legislative windowdressing, a “feel-good” law, as some have called it.
By the same token, it probably couldn’t hurt for the state Legislature to join the happy throng of local legislators and make the ban statewide. At least then, there would be no ambiguity about where the practice is OK and where it’s not. Texting while driving is certainly dangerous enough to outlaw, if only outlawing it were enough to deter people from doing it. How about at least an occasional, token enforcement effort?

What an epidemic we had! Good thing all the Niskyauna moms and dads will come out in droves to reward Savage for her momentous contribution to keeping their kids safe! Oh THANK YOU, THANK YOU LADY SAVAGE AND LORD GARDNER! MAY WE KISS YOUR RINGS NOW?

But there are gray areas of the law, Pollard said. If you're stopped in your car, even just at a red light, you might be able to fit in a quick e-mail. The law only says you can't text while the car is in motion, Pollard said.

lol .. this is all just too funny.

I questioned the wisdom of passing this law when Savage proposed it citing the inability to enforce.  There were many unanswered questions about this piece of "feel good" legislation.  For example, do the police have the power to seize the cell phone or obtain phone billing records to prove that the accused was texting at the moment that they were pulled over?   The law has a loophole that the vehicle must be moving.  So if a driver is texting while stopped at a red light, it is not a violation of the law.

The politicians, including Angelo Santabarbara, rallied around this legislation to make it appear that they are
serving the public interest.  I recall that only conservative Legislator Suhrada opposed its passage.  Kudos to Suhrada for seeing through the farce.

Like many have said...it was just 'feel good' legislation that could have never been enforced. What I do find even more strange, is how this was NOT in the gazette.

Well if they printed this in a newspaper that some number of actual voters in this county actually READ, perhaps it would cost Savage a vote or two. That is a risk far to great for Izvestia to take when they have such a stake in seeing their candidates win elections. The county news outlet editors are part and parcel of the democratic party apparatus and will not go beyond a few admonishments now and then in order to make it appear they are not utter statists. Sometimes Savage goes a tad too far and Tass has to slap her wrist, if only to perpetuate the myth that they are "unbiased." Comrade Judy Patrickova, any comment? Maybe she is tied up getting her orders from the Boss, Comrade Gardner.

When will the liberal media wake up and see that they have failed the people? Acknowledge that by NOT listening to ALL of the people, they will continue to drop in ratings and readership?

When any media outlet starts to disregard 'the people', whether they agree with the people's stand or not, will be considered an insult and will turn to a media outlet that will listen and regard the people.

That is why the gazette had to expand beyond Schenectady county for their news coverage AND to increase readership. Cause they were losing big time in this county. However, it will be a matter of time for the other areas catch on. Although it would be interesting to know how closely affiliated the gazette is with the politics in these other areas.  Well, we'll be sure to spread the word.
