Check this out: First, the Fire Chief (dist 2) house burns: http://www.schenectadytoday.com/2008/09/30/fire-dept-chiefs-home-burns-due-to-electrical-fire/

Then there's a pot dealer/producer/grower across the street:   http://www.schenectadytoday.com/2008/10/01/secret-pot-stash-fire-leads-to-arrest/

How ironic is that?

Is it just me or have their seemed to be an inordinate number of fires in Rotterdam the past few years?  I'm starting to become a bit paranoid about what I leave plugged in at home when I leave for work.

Who said that?

I'm the last one that would ever bash a cop

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but this is the same fire, and it had nothing to do with the chief's house(which as far as I know, ain't on Helderberg Ave.). Not to mention, I passed by Helderberg near Curry yesterday and there didn't appear to be two burned buildings. From what I can surmise, Schenectady Today ripped off an article that seems suspiciously like one posted on the TU's Web site, which quoted the chief. They then made the absurd leap to conclusion that the house was his. Somewhere in between, they got the address wrong of the house that did burn.

Not that any of this couldn't be expected of Schenectady Today. They hardly ever post anything over there original. You're better off reading the rags than that site.

Interesting - did you bring that to their attention?

Bizzare that they have a source listed for one and not the other, I'll give ya that.  As for a "rag" and not being original - that's not true, there are several things there that ARE original - editorials, comments, etc - I find it a refreshing mix.

see once again there is liing to try to knock the fire fighters and police and to make them look like druggies. You repubs know how to smear the police and firemen, does it make you proud?
