Can you reconcile this suggestion with your arguments supporting pay raises for the Rotterdam Town Board members?
Good point. If the Rotterdam board wants a raise, bring it to the public for public comment for all residents to be heard. I don't agree with winning an election one month then giving yourselves a raise the following. It was the WAY it was done more than anything.

Sal has the Democratic talking point down. It's all State mandates? Does the State Mandate Metrograft, that money should be taken from every purchase in this County and given to gin mills? Other counties have cut expenses and laid off County employees across the board. Metrograft must be terminated and millions diverted to the County General Fund.

Only in Schenectady County where there is no leadership does nothing happen except begging the State for money. We are already getting way more than our share from the State. Even with George. It's time more of you put the blame where it belongs on the County Democrats who have been making no work lob jobs for hacks and adding more and more DSS programs that are not State mandated. When you demand County cuts they say no way and pay 15% more in property tax next year.

I spoke to a Moderate Democrat on the County Board and asked how the budget deliberations were going. They stated that they were shocked at how little the Democratic Majority wants to cut. "Leaders" are looking at minor, insignificant cuts that don't even trim the fat. The first consideration is always lob job retention.

Concerned citizens better get immediately involved. Call any County Legislator that you know and DEMAND that cuts come in every department before any increase in property taxes. The upcoming budget and property tax increases are going to shock people to their senses. Rotterdam and Hilltown taxpayers/sheeple have been too quiet. You should be packing the County Chamber. County "leaders" had months to act and did absolutely nothing. Except hire more lobs. Stop blaming "State Mandates" that every other County has reckoned with.

I couldn't agree with you more Benny. I have attended County meetings and it is very discouraging. I have never witnessed such  arrogance. They seem to disregard the people when they do speak to the legislatures during public comment. There are other people who have told me the same thing. They don't feel that the legislatures are even listening to them. It is a poor display of governing the people.

Will your moderate Democrat prove to be another gutless wonder shaking in a corner rather than go against his party and do the right thing representing the people that live in this county?  Yes, I suspect he or she will.

taxpayers/sheeple?  Thanks Benny.  As usual, how quickly the good people of Duanesburg have been forgotten.  We weren't called sheeple last year during the sex offeder issue were we?  I didn't see any others come out against it like we did.  No, they came, they attended the dysfunction palooza we call our representative board in this county.  They truly thought they would be listened to, they thought they mattered to those who are supposed to look after us.  They thought they could make a difference. What did they get in return?  Not a damn thing, nothing.  They were even chuckled at during their time at privilige. At the time, I spoke to my share of democrats on the legislature thay agreed with our position, I was hopeful and thought in the eleventh hour they would do the right thing, step up and vote against the madness.  Of course not, only Michael Eidens had the courage to do that and look where that got him.  Now you have the unmitigated gall to call us sheeple?  No, we just aren't stupid.  Why on earth would we make a 30 mile round trip with gas at $4 per gallon to see that ridiculous spectacle?  You want to talk sheeple?  Go visit your "moderate" democrats on the leg.  It does no good attending those meetings, they will do exactly what they want anyway and god help ANYONE who gets in their way..

So there, I think I'm done now

I attended some of those county meetings in opposition to the proposed sex offender law. Not only were the Duanesburg residents vocal in their opposition, so was Rene. In fact, she was the only town supervisor I saw in attendance at these meetings. If others were there, I did not see them.

I also witnessed the arrogance and total disregard for the people who chose to speak up in support of their towns. It was obvious that their (the county legislature's) minds were already made up. They heard everyone speak only due to the fact that they "had" to.

It does appear that speaking to the County Legislatures is a waste of time and energy. The only solution is voting them out.

Rene is right on. But y'all better start packing the County Legislator again. And yes this Democratic legislator will be another gutless wonder voting "YES" when requested to by Gary Hughes.

We must go back to a unpaid Board of Supervisors, with Rene and Steve taking seats. Currently the Hilltowns are unrepresented. Except at the County Assessor's Office. Until then start throwing the bums out.

I agree Sal, Rotterdam finally has a County Legislator who represents its constituents with a little class. Legislator Shurada's anti-liberal rants are getting old and I believe are non-productive.  He's like the Howard Stern of Legislators, a 'shock legislator'.  Doesn't really accomplish anything, but the media loves quoting his rhetoric for its shock value.  Maybe if ANG is successful, he can give Mr. Shurada some pointers on how to gain the support of more people like yourself.

Obviously ANG has done something right to earn you admiration.

He has also EARNED my admiration.  He comes to many of our Town Board meetings and also attends many functions in Duanesburg.  When at these events he appears to truly enjoy speaking with his constituents.  He looks them in the eye and isn't looking around the crowd for someone "better" to talk to.

Yes, he needs to give all of them lessons and even town boards in Rotterdam should learn some of his ways indeed. The old crew of them is stale from the top to the bottom over there.

Agree about Angelo who is a breath of fresh air and one of the few Legislators with any real business experience. He needs help. Hopefully, he will be able to slip some cuts by the Democratic Majority.

Where is Tony J on this County budget mess? Since he is in the majority he should be leading the call for serious cuts in the pork, especially at DSS. So far very silent.

Yes, Angelo will. Farley and Lazzari and Suhrada cant get notthing done what so ever since they are too partisan and since Ang is a much nicer guy the demos will listen to him but not the others. Farley and Suhrada need to tone it down and try to get along better and stop with the shocks since you dont see the demos acting radical like that. That is funny Suhrad as Howard Stern with a bald head, Farley is like a raving leprechaun { a real nice guy actually since I talked to him last spring} Lazzari got her comuperance for taking pork and Burhmaster will never say 2 words. ANGELO is the only hope of the repubs and conservs.
