Rotterdam asks too little of builders like Amedore

    I assume all seniors in George Amedore’s 105th Assembly District have received, as I did, his senior resource guide. It is a listing of organizations and agencies that offer toll-free numbers services and information.
    The Gazette quoted him as saying “My goal is to put money back into your pockets so you can decide what is affordable to your family.”
    What about aiding Rotterdam taxpayers whose taxes help finance the rebuilding of substandard roads and drainage systems turned over to the town’s care by builders? The builders make the profits on condos and apartment complexes that are hooked up through a series of holding stations to our septic plant, which is at capacity and soon needing a multimillion-dollar upgrade.
    Due to all the drastic rearranging of Mother Nature that Amedore builders engineered to build 52 condos called Putnam Woods — like removing the old standing woods, filling in a pond and acres of wetlands, blocking a year-round stream with a stone wall, and holding all the septic in an above-ground tank until pumped under roads, buildings and up a steep hill — it’s a disaster waiting to happen! Three times in recent months we locally have lost power as large trees with water-logged underground roots have fallen. Our taxes pay the local, county and state cleanup and repair crews that are called in. Builders now contribute to park funds. What about a set percentage of their profits held in bonds to cover future repairs and services?
    We all hope for help with long-term care as we age. Should not builders provide for their building projects aging care out of their profits? Now there’s a bill for Amedore to write and sponsor!
    Rotterdam names buildings, roads and parks after people. Why not pipelines (water, drainage or sewage) or the sewage plant? Just my idea of how the deeds that men do can live after them!

Marge, what you speak of would require a comprehensive plan that calls for accountability of all developers to guarantee a problem free development, you know the comp plan we don't have here in Rotterdam.

You're right Senders, lawyers don't fix problems they are the problems.

There should be a lawsuit I think

I actually remember a lawsuit from Aaron Mair awhile back...did anything ever come from that?
